What is your top 5 westerns of all time???
Mine would be:

1) The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

2) Once Upon A Time In The West

3) The Unforgiven/Open Range

4) The Quick And The Dead

5) Wyatt Earp

No time to read ALL of these - I wonder if anyone else shares my list???

1) Stagecoach

2) Rio Bravo

3) High Noon

4) Open Range

5) Once Upon a Time in the West

Funny, the director of Rio Bravo, Howard Hawks, said he hated High Noon and made Rio Bravo as a kind of anti-High Noon but yet I love them both.

There are a couple other excellent westerns I would add for a top-10:

6) Magnificent Seven

7) Outlaw Josie Wales

8) They Died With Their Boots On

9) Unforgiven

10) The Shootist

My #1 All-Time best western is "True Grit". Nothing else is even close to it in my mind. There are some great westerns but this is head and shoulders above them to me.

The rest of the top 5 would be almost impossible to put in order so here are some I love in no particular order: "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance", "Tombstone", "The Outlaw Josey Wales", "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", "The Sons of Katie Elder", "The Unforgiven", "Young Guns 1 & 2" and "Open Range"

Rooster Cogburn is my hero.

There's so many more I need to see, but so far I'd say (in order of how much I enjoy watching them):

1.For a Few Dollars More
2.3:10 to Yuma
3.Once upon a time in the West
4.The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
5.Open Range

I'm going to see Django, Fistfull of Dynamite and the Great Silence soon. Good Spaghetti Westerns, supposedly.

3:10 to Yuma blew my mind...but not as much as For a Few Dollars More. Open Range was the first good Western I saw and enjoyed.
