Here's an idea: put it in a safety deposit box instead.

OP -- it would have made no difference. They found the drugs and the money because the fat dude ratted him out. Even if Norton had put everything in a safety deposit box, the fat guy would have told the DEA agents of the box; and Norton would've been busted anyways.

The sofa wasn't the reason he got caught; the fat Russian was the reason.
