Why is this considered THAT good?

It's not a hate message, I just don't get why is it a 9.2 show. I love sci-fi and I had all the good intentions to watch it but after 3 episodes I stopped it. So, I honestly don't get why the rating is so high. I mean no disrespect towards the fans, the creators and all the crew, I just want an answer why do you guys think it's so good that it deserves a 9.2 rating.

Also sorry for my english.

Do this, it is what I have done for everybody that I have turned on to the show:

Watch the episode "Out of gas."

I think this will allow you to see the interaction between the characters, and the emotion that the characters feel for each other. It is what drives the show.

After you watch out of gas, start over from the first episode and go from there, see what you think.

too bad, this is a VERY good show.

So, five-card stud, nothing wild. And the sky's the limit.

You quoted one of the best series finales ever. Dazzling.

John: ...yeah, yeah, yeah. Russell: ...no, no, no
John: Ill drive Russel Ramis: OK.

Most of the shows on network TV appeal to women, some appeal to both, some only to kids and/or the mentally challenged. Women shop. Advertisers decide what shows live an die. It has nothing to do with the quality of the show just numbers. I rather watch golf (I hate golf) than Honey Boo Boo.

So along comes a show guys can watch, and some women, and it gets a high rating even though it might appear as an average show (it's very good). It has a good ensemble cast, stays well-written, has a sense of humor, and no kids (thankfully). If you can buy it or watch it through Netflix there's no point of turning on the TV.

I'm stumped as to how Prison Break, Lost or House MD could've relied on a purely female audience...

I also dont understand the ratings, even though I wish I did.
I also wish I loved the show. Somehow I cant. I've seen it twice so far and I dont get it. I love Joss and his work, but this show just didnt speak to me.
Maybe third time is the charm....

It's fairly simple. Some people like it, some don't. It seems that the majority loves it.
I love it, and out my 6 friends who have watched it only one person didn't like it. It's that way with everything.

I for one can't understand why, for example, Fight Club or Inception have such high ratings. I don't like them, but the majority clearly enjoys them.

It's a good series. Good writing, good characters, good story telling.

Probably it's a little bit overrated because how Fox killed it off but I think compared to other shows its pretty well rated - bang in the middle between Dexter and The Wire, just where I'd put it.

It's pretty bad, it's bad when compared to similar shows that were on around the same time, and it's really bad when compared to the western tv show as a genre. But what this show does have is a hardcore fan base that eat up anything Joss Whedon does, including stuff like Dollhouse and Agents of Shield.

You're on here as much as those fans.

Straightedge means I'm better than you.

reply

Dollhouse and Agents of Shield fans? Because I'm sure Firefly fans are here much more than me, since I was barely here, mostly just telling someone that: Yes, Fox did indeed run commercials for their own TV show.

Well, you've said your peace. Live long and prosper.
