I DONT CARE..I LOVE THIS MOVIE

Finally caught this movie after years of not getting round to seeing it (poor reviews certainly influenced me I admit) and guess what? It's not too bad at all. Derivative? Yes! But certainly not as bad as many reviewers claimed. No one seems to take themselves super seriously , especially Stanley Tucci and Delroy Lindo and I never found the movie to be boring at any stage despite its considerable length.On the contrary...it just skipped along. All in all, one of those pleasant, unexpected surprises we receive periodically.

Saw this in the movies and hadn't seen it since then, picked up the DVD super cheap & popped it in with the family and I forgot how enjoyable it was.

A lot of people tend to flame this movie based on the inaccurate science and incorrect facts...in the making of, the director or writer (can't remember which) was simply inspired by 50s/60s sci-fi movies like Journey to the Center of the Earth and The Time Machine...suspend belief just a pinch and take it for what its worth. I'll even go so far as to say this movie is just a pinch smarter then those (NOT better, just a little smarter). Plus my kids just finished studying the Earth inner sections before summer break (Crust, Mantle, etc) so the timing to revisit this one was fantastic!!!

The science is barmy, for sure, but the characters are sympathetic and you care about them.

Stanley Tucci nearly steals the film - no surprise there.

And it's really delightful to see Delroy Lindo playing someone other than a hoodlum.
Actually, how often do we see a Black scientist, at the top of his game?

Not making a federal case out of this, just an observation. . .

It's not even a B movie. It got released in the theaters. I liked this movie almost as much as 2012. I love 2012. It was better than Armageddon or Day After Tomorrow. 2012 is one of the best movies I have seen. Just a matter of opinion. Some people just don't like disaster movies.

I hated this the first time i saw it rewatched it yesterday and loved it.
