Big,dumb,preposterous b-movie though it is,its got spaceships,huge diamonds,killer-pigeons and Delroy Lindo as a mad scientist....

Hilarious thread. I too am dumbstruck by the bizarre contradiction between the vast gaps in scientific consistency and my affection for the grand level of storytelling. It's just such a terrific fantasy, the pace is nonstop, and the sacrifices are compelling.

Only thing I could do without is Rat and his stupid "this is my kung-fu... and it IS strong". Practically have to reset my eyes in their sockets whenever I watch and hear this line.

One of my FAV guilty pleasure movies....i enjoy it.....I look past its flaws like many look past the MANY flaws of Pacific Rim,Avatar and Ironman 3.

We all have them....this is one of mine.

GREAT CAST.........really awesome.

Seen 131 of the movies on the top 250. Own 108 of them.

Honestly, the movie at times pokes at itself in a tongue in cheek way. The alloy called "unobtanium" anyone? It's a way to say "hey look, it's a movie, just enjoy the ride eh?" I was explaining how certain things wouldn't happen how they did to my kid and he's like can I just watch. Yep, my bad. I keep it near the top of my collection. It's weird but Tucci really tops it off for me. :D

Same here Mr. Buns, I had a chance to see this film last weekend for the first time and was pleasantly surprised with it! I logged on to IMDB expecting to see at least a 6 and I was shocked to see a meager 5.4, this film deserves more!

If you can get past some of the the silly technobabble, it's a really fun movie to get into, it left me with a great feeling after watching it.

I love this movie the same way I love Deep Blue Sea, Tremors and War of the Gargantuas. Are thye great works of art? No. Are they fun? Absolutely. Not every piece of celluloid has to be a FILM, just can just be movies.

Me too. It's a really good story. Something pretty different. I watch it a lot to my husband's chagrin. He calls it The !hore.

Yes! It's such a great movie, one of my favorites! I hate it when people bitch about scientific accuracy in movies like this. It's called a Science FICTION movie NOT a science FACT movie.
