was there anybody who didn't cry??

Was there anybody who didn't cry?? I mean i really cried my eyes out at the last half hour or so. The way she does her speech at school for her grandfather even though he's not there and she's trying soooo hard and at the end with the whales...
And I NEVER cry when watching a movie. I watched it (thank god) alone, cause i was so ashamed haha. A day later my parents also watched it and even my dad (!) had to cry and i've never seen him cry and i know him for 18 years haha ofcourse my mom also cried but she can't even hold her tears when watching Dawson's Creek.

I didn't. There have been many a movie to make me cry, or close to it, and this was not one of them. It's just not that sad.

reply

Yes, totally agree with you. the speech scene is really touching!!

reply

yea i didn't cry...i couldn't understand the movie enough to cry
the only reason i would've cried would've been b/c it was such a horrible movie

reply

My mother and I watched it yesterday and cried. I saw it 2 times yesterday and cried both times! It's sad, but it's touching. =)

I cried because of how much the movie sucked compared to the book. Seriously, if you haven't read the book yet, then I highly recommend it. It's waaay better than the movie.

No it wasn't anything to cry over.. You should have been crying for an old ignoran, stubborn man whose family allowed him to abuse a young girl time and time again.

My [male] teacher cried a bit in class
I didn't cry though
I dunno why

reply

I haven't stopped crying.

I feel uncomfortable about this but not only I didn't cry but I pretty much disliked the movie - full with cliches it brought nothing new.

reply

I didn't cry. I got a bit teary eyed and blinkey and my throat got tight with emotion, but I didn't cry.

I actually didn't feel anything at the speech scene, or if I did I don't remember. It was later, after the whale riding scene, when her grandpa put what he suggested was a whale tooth around her neck that I got emotional. Also at the very end when I saw she was all right. I had been worried, even though I thought I knew she was going to be okay. Seeing thatshe was all right made me feel relieved.

reply

Yup, that speech pretty much had me awash, not a habit with me. The scene where she's riding the whale underwater, and then finally leaves the whale to float off to the top - damn.

reply

Great movie.

I cried like a baby.

reply

I was touched yes, but no I didn't feel like crying.

reply

My God I feel like crying just from reading your post and remembering that wonderful speech moment. It felt so genuine, not acting.

First time I watched it I fell asleep halfway, but something told me I had to see the whole thing another time. I'm so glad I did. Truly magical!!

Skills!

I cry in movies, but in this movie...I BALLED! lol

The whole part from the speech, to her riding the whale, to her grandma giving her grandpa the whale tooth, to the hospital scene, to the canoe in the ocean happy ending...
