I watched this like 20 years ago and I remember it being good.

Watching it now I am struggling to get through the early parts because of the "cutesy" (as another poster put it) Diaz-Cruz-Cruise romcom interactions.

Was it just more cringey back then and we were all just used to it?

Something they are enjoying isn't for you, that's ok. Why cringe over it? Let people be cute if they want.

Well, I made it through that shit and it is still a good movie.

I just assume those are how THOSE character/people act in this particular story. I don't see it as good/bad/or cringe... just how those people are in that story, explaining how they act and react to the situations that happen.

pretty much how every movie is. characters simply 'are', make bad chocies, create conflict to resolve.
