House of 100 Corpses or Devils Rejects?

Whats your favourite?

I wasn't particularly a fan of this movie, but thought Devils Rejects was great. So its the Devils Rejects for me.

I started this same thread on the Devils Rejects board n the majority went for The Devils Rejects. But a poster happened to mention that they thought if the same thread was put on here then House of 1000 Corpses would get the majority vote.

Just thought i'd put it to the test.

Hail Hail

House of 1000 corpses is one of my favorite horror movies. I like it better because the outrageousness of the story goes better with the violence. Personally, I think movies such as this or Texas Chainsaw Massacre are helped by that element of fantasy.

Devil's Rejects just seemed to be violent, but that's all. Nothing happened in that movie that I'd consider truly original. It was good as a sequel, though.

I liked the Devil's Rejects Better

I thought 'The Devil's Rejects' was waaaay better! Honestly, I thought 'House of 1000 Corpses' was stupid. It had its moments, sure and the ending was good, but I found TDR to be much scarier.

If we wanna hear you talk, I will shove my arm up your ass and work your mouth like a puppet!

House of 1000 Corpses is predominantly a horror film (in my opinion) and shoe-horns in lots of surreal stuff that was commonplace in 70's/80's trash cinema to make up for the lack of budget that the film makers of the day had.

Devils Rejects has more of that exploitation-film feel where violence and retribution prop up the story.

I like them both. But for it's psychedelic madness and on the strength of its players, I vote House of 1000 Corpses.

DR was better imo

I like HOuse because of how trippy and surreal it is. Devil's Rejects is a bit more realistic in tone, and as well made as it was... I really enjoyed the acid trip nature of House. The dream-like sequences, the quirkiness, and use of color. It was pretty groovy.

Hail to the king, baby.

This past Sunday I saw Devil's Rejects.

Technically it is a better movie on several counts but I like "House" better and can watch it over and over again when I probably will never see "Rejects" again.

Why?

Along with having the fun and trippy nature several posters have discussed, Otis and Baby were WAY more fun in "House." "I have to get rid of the encrustations dying on the surface!" "WORK! Have you ever worked? Now I'm not talking about scooping ice cream to your s**theel friends on summer break wearing socks with Mickey Mouse on one side and Donald Duck on the other..."

And Baby never did her laugh in "Rejects." Yes, it is annoying but it did add to her scenes: "You lose!" Ha ha ha (Scalps Jerry).

Otis was just grouchy and mean in "Rejects" and Baby was just mean.

And don't get me started about Captain Spaulding!

I like HoaTC better.

It came out as a rental, when I was still in college, living above this store in a hick town a stone's throw away from campus. In the town they only had one rental store with maybe a 1000 titles, I am not kidding.

I am a huge film buff, so I've had seen most of the stuff they rented out. They had this video though and I had heard of Rob Zombie, because I seriously dig his song (if you can call it that) for the soundtrack of "The Matrix". It's called 'Dragula 2000' or something. Very great song, if you're into The Prodigy, Rage Against The Machine and trance stuff.

So I took this home - expecting nothing at all. This thing here lured me in big time. It's my Pulp Fiction of the horror genre. Something I rarely do, especially with horror (with me horror leaves a stain and needs to sink in) rewatching a movie immediately, was needed here.

The whole execution of the thing just seemed right.

Favorite horrors of mine, I've seen some great ones, but these I watch twice a year at least:

- House Of A Thousand Corpses
- The Devil's Rejects
- Last House On The Left (2009), the remake is better
- The Hills Have Eyes (2006), the remake is better
- Ghost Ship (2002), adventure & horror, something they should do more of, plus the ending was great.

i liked HoaTC better. it was definitely more campy and not as "straight" as TDR, but i felt that TDR was just way too depraved, cruel, and sadistic. there was nothing likable about any of the characters. i also didn't like how it was supposed to be a sequel to HoaTC, but it really wasn't; it just took the same characters and some of the premise from HoaTC but changed them. not sure if that really makes sense, but TDR just didn't seem faithful to HoaTC.

"will someone tell that mime to shut up?"

I love both movies immensely, but 1000 Corpses will always be my favorite. I can rewatch the hell out of it and get the same amount of amusement each and every time. Devil's Rejects certainly has some really great moments, but aside from the epic ending it's scenes don't stick with me as much. That said, it's hard to even compare the two because even though they both use the Firefly family the genres are so different with the first being more of a horror and the second being more of a revenge/exploitation film.

PRAISE NAN.

House of 1000 Corpses has some cool moments, but The Devil's Rejects is much better overall, imo.
