What's your all time favorite animated film?

anything from pixar to anime to classic disney, what is you favorite animated film?

For Ghibli, it's a toss-up between Mononoke and Spirited Away, though it's really hard to rank many others. Grave of the Fireflies is probably the most beautiful film I never want to watch again (yet I still do want to watch it again at some point).

Another "Ghibli" film I like to throw in, and probably my actual favorite animated film of all time is "Ou to tori", by which I mean of course Paul Grimault's "Le Roi et l'oiseau", which in its incomplete 50's release was a huge influence for Miyazaki and Takahata. It's almost completely unknown outside the French speaking world unfortunately, and was almost forgotten too. Two other French animated films I highly recommend are "Les Maîtres du temps" (Time Masters), and of course, Persepolis.

"Pinocchio" and "Dumbo"!!!

That's a tough one. I can't pick just one, so:

Classic animation: I'll go with The lion king all the way, with Beauty and the beast in a second place.

Anime: Akira, Ghost in the shell, Princess Mononoke and Spirited away. I can't really choose between those four.

Computer animation: Toy Story (the first one) is for me the best animated film of all time. Wall-E is also brilliant.

Stop motion: The nightmare before Christmas, with Mary and Max in a close second.

The Nightmare Before Christmas. A very close second is Spirited Away.

WALL-E. I've seen a lot of great anime movies, but one has yet to be added to my Best list.

La planète sauvage

I don't remember how I heard about it but it has to be by far the most interesting and important animated film I've ever seen.

Tangled :) (but Lilo & Stitch and Mulan are a close 2nd and 3rd)

Here comes the smolder...

Princess Mononoke

Spirited Away. It's just such an astonishingly imaginative picture. Like a dream that you never want to end. Wondrously animated whimsicality. I also feel sorry for "No Face" and wonder what his backstory was...
