136 pounds = overweight?

In the movie didn't she say her weight was 136 pounds?

136 pounds = overweight?!

How tall is Briget supposed to be?

Renee Z the actress is 5'4 - a person at 5'4 and weighing 136 pounds is at a healthy/normal/ideal weight according to the Body Mass Index (http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/).

I was a little sad seeing Bridget be so upset at being 136 pounds because I'm exactly 136 pounds and my BMI is 22.6 (I'm 5'5). A healthy/normal/ideal BMI is between 18.5 - 24.9.

What a disgusting bloated whale to weigh all of 136 pounds, I don't know how anyone could live with themselves being so morbidly obese.

Truly shocking!

I agree Renee looks quite cute in this movie. I wonder what she weighe in the second movie (Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason) compared to the first one, because she looks a LOT heavier in the second one. Or maybe her body didn't respond well to the yo-yo dieting and force feeding.

I am 5"6 and 135 lbs. I really don't believe RZ was in the 130's in the films, especially in The Edge of Reason. She had to atleast been 150 pounds.

I was 150 once and I didn't look like that, I looked heavier than her by at least 15 pounds so I'd say 135 is accurate as it's exactly what I thought she weighed.

It is not overweighted, but it is a little bit over the ideal weight.

For my weight, 5'6'', the nutrituinist told me my ideal weight is 125 lbs.

When I have been around 135 lbs, I have begun to develope tummy, love handles and double chin. I try to be less than 130 lbs, and doing pilates to be toned, to feel and look at my best.

reply

Really? That seems a little low. I was told for someone 5'5" the acceptable/healthy weight can be between 115-135 depending on the bone structure and muscle mass..

I thought RZ looked great in the first film. In the second they had her put on a few extra pounds and wear unflattering clothes and not wash her hair. It was random.

Really, a lot of it is in how fit the person is, how she looks in her clothes, how well-proportioned she is, how toned, etc. Weight is only a part of the picture.

I think she's definitely in the 130s but she's not overweight. I think that's how she perceives herself as no one calls her overweight other than herself. She doesn't look overweight at all and if anything, she looks in the middle of thin and fat which is completely average. My weight fluctuated a lot and I remember when I was 137 pounds and a size small. It's possible she carries her weight slightly differently and is a medium but there's no way she could literally be considered overweight by a realistic view.

i'm almost finished with the book 1.

bridget finds herself fat. especially when a guy told her the stomach was squishy.

i don't think 136 lbs is overweight.

i find the whole concept in the book ridiculous.

i'm like bridge you are not fat!!!

reply

BMUI is a rather artificial measure. However the actress is clearly plump.

BMI doesn't account for bone or muscle structure. You could see that Renee had no muscle and all the pounds she packed on for the part came from fat.

one inch makes a big difference too. The consensus seems to be that she is 5-3 not 5-4. She even said she was 5-3 herself. So 5-3 136 lbs which is alot different than 5-5 136 lbs.
