The book stated that Hermione Granger made friends with Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley, so she had to follow a script. And you'll note that Hermione didn't have any other friends because the other kids couldn't stand her for being a know-it-all, or always wanting to be right, or being the kiddy equivalent of a workaholic. Emma Watson the actress's status is irrelevant in this story because technically she doesn't exist.
