Katherine Heigl Ruined Season 3!!

I love Roswell with a passion, and everytime i re-watch the series, it just bugs me to death how crappy season 3 was because of KH! who cared about Isabelle and her husband! who caresss!!! she looked 30 in the episodes, and i know its been said before but i just wanted to express my anger. Season 1 was the best season ever, but every time i watch end of the world i cry my eyes out. anyways, any of you out there still a bit angry when it comes to season 3?

reply

I actually liked her best in season 3.
loved her hair too

I thought I as the only one who hated Isabel-centric season 3. She was in too much. And her storyline with Jesse was beyond boring. The only time I didn't mind her all that much was when she was with Kyle, and that's got more to do with Kyle than with her.

Hatter: Finally... I missed you.

The only thing I appreciated about Isabel in Season 3 was how she couldn't let go of Alex, because I don't think the fans could either. I loved how she kept day dreaming about talking to him, and I cry so much every time she says, "If I ever have a boy, I'm going to name him Alex." Past that scene, I didn't like her at all, but I didn't ever like her.

I supported her when she got angry at Max and Michael for not ever listening to her because they didn't, but I never got attached to her. I felt that she was a waste of valuable space.

BUT then again, I feel that if it had been a different actress I might have felt differently about the character cause I'm not a huge KH fan.

I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself...

You need to direct your anger towards the character, the writers or the person responsible for having the actor appear on the show so much. Who is it Katherine's fault that her character got involved, married and appeared more in the season? She had no power on making her character appear more. She was not writing the lines or plots for her character. So how is Katherine Heigl responsible for such a bad season?

actually she demanded more space in the series (she even admitted it in one of her interviews where she still whined about the fact that roswell wasn't about her) and she demanded a change for Isabel and a new love interest because she didn't like how her character was handled in the other seasons.
Basically she did what she also did in grey's anatomy.
But you're right about a thing, it was the writers' fault for listening to her whines and please her. I understand that an actor wants more space but Katherine auditioned for all the female roles and she got Isabel, she knew who Isabel wasn't and she still signed the contract. There're tons of actress that would have loved to play Isabel.
She got a season about her character but that didn't stop Katherine from being ungrateful because she always wanted more more more.

Wow, I honestly didn't knew about these facts. I had heard rumors in these boards that she had complaint about the Roswell show and how she acted like a diva. Of course to me those were rumors, but after Grey's I can sort of see a pattern. Still love the actress, though.

Anyways, I know what I'm about to say is going to sound like something a fan would say, but try to understand. In any career, you have to fight to get what you want. I think that she was smart about whining and wanting more screen time. What actor that wants to succeed doesn't want to be more exposed in the industry? I think she works hard and which is why perhaps the reason why the creator of the show and writers agreed to listen to her. She's not just a pretty face, she can act. She's been doing it for a while. I think there comes a point in anyone's career where you can say to your self "OK, this is what you like. So unless you put your self out there and work hard for what you want, no matter what others say or think about you, you'll just be stuck where you are" I heard this from a boss who told me that if you want to just live an ordinary life, where no one really bothers you, then that's your choice. But if you want to get something done for your career you have to be prepare to receive some hurtful criticism, and even hate.

In a way, this makes a lot of sense. Have you checked the boards for the people that have made lots of money and are famous? Rarely could you find more nice comments about that person than negative ones.

From the beginning of her career up until Grey's Anatomy, Katherine's boards were 90% nice. Everyone that was there had nothing but nice comments. After she became successful with Knocked Up and Grey's, the number turned the other way around. Clearly, she's more famous and ranking more money in a year than what she did in all of her career post Grey's and Knocked Up.

again it's understandable. But it isn't professional or smart because no one forced her to accept Isabel's role and she couldn't change the whole show according to her taste and desires. She just couldn't. And she can't do it in the other works she gets. When she signed the contract she knew that Isabel wasn't Max, for example, and she still accepted it. You realize that if all the actors would do the same thing a show/movie would be a complete mess? The writers can't please everyone. It's *their* story and they have to tell it like they want. They're already influenced by the networks. If the actors are not ok with it then they can find another job. This is how real life works.

The problem with her is that the writers even please her still she's never happy and always sounds ungrateful. She should produce and write her own shows and movies.
Nothing wrong about wanting a better career but humility is essential for me.
although it's true that in Hollywood being humble doesn't matter especially since the actors don't always become famous because of their merits.

I don't think she ruined season three. It wasn't as great as the other seasons, but it eventually found it's footing. Although, I could have done without some of the story lines.

Why are you acting like KH has some magical power over the writers and forced them to write her in more?? If you want to blame someone blame the writers. KH followed the script just like everyone else, stop picking on her.

What the *beep* is the internet??

Everyone here is probably going to hate me, but I got hooked on Roswell because of Isabel. I thought Katherine was the best actor on the show. I liked Maria, but I always held out hope that Michael and Isabel would get together. They really got each other and they always turned to each other when they needed help. They sided with each other over Max a lot too. I do agree that season 3 sucked, but I don't think it was just because of what the writers did to Isabel. I thought a lot of the story lines lagged that season.

I don't care what Katherine Heigl does in her personal life, but I really enjoyed her portrayal of Isabel Evans. I only tuned in to Grey's Anatomy because I saw her on the cast list and I'd been wanting to see her in something ever since Roswell went off the air. I stopped watching Grey's when she left. I'm not too crazy about her films, but she played my favorite character on both Roswell and Grey's Anatomy. She was the reason why I became such a big fan of both shows.

The pilot was based on the first book in the Roswell series. KH fits Isabel as she is written in that book.

My daughter and I still love the the I Married an Alien episode that spoofed Bewitched.

I personally loved KH as Isobel in Roswell. Isabel was my favorite character in the books and show. I loved her story line. I liked season three but it lacked story and in some ways lost where it was going in the first two seasons. That is not the character of Isabel nor KH's fault. I think season three was purely about building things up to have them leave Roswell in the first place. To me, I hated the whole Max going to Hollywood part.

I think from the beginning, Isabel wanted as much of a normal life as possible and was constantly denied that and any faults in that with the storyline and characters were entirely the writers fault and the direction the show took. From when the season started, you knew they were going for a much more different angle and it did completely lag. I think overall, we would have had a great season to come from the result of everything in Season 3 and they were for the most part cutting the strings.

All this hate is going on to KH and no one even knows her in person. And another thing, it was always known from the beginning she left the show of Grey's Anatomy to focus entirely on movies. Shes not her characters. So I don't believe she ruined anything.

I'm only into the 3rd episode of Season 3 so far, but already I am disappointed with where it's heading. Season 1 and 2 were fantastic, but I am not so into Season 3. I just can't get into the Jesse character, I wish they hadn't added him and something about him rubs me the wrong way. So really it's the addition of Jesse that I am not too crazy about. I have always liked Isabel though, so I can't really blame her for making Season 3 bad.

I'm really hoping that some good episodes are still to come. I'd enjoy it if the show focused a bit more on Michael and Maria, but it seems like it's going to have more of a focus on Isabel and her husband. Bummer!

reply

Stick with it. If nothing else, the series finale is satisfying.

Dude this whole show sucks. It would be better if they stopped focusing on everyone (especially Max and Liz, because seriously, we get it) and focused on the interesting stuff like the aliens. I'm so far into the first season, and we've barely made any progress on ANY front. And, I like how Kyle is the bad guy, even though Liz was the one that was being a brat about they're whole relationship, leading him on, then suddenly breaking up with him, then being mad when he's mad at her, then suddenly wanting to be with him again. Jesus, she's exactly like Bella. The only two people I like in the show are Maria and Michael, because they're funny, and the actors actually have talent(ish).

As for season 3 sucking... Im not far enough into it to judge KG's role during the season, I have only watched the first episode so far... and talk about HORRIBLE writing. The entire episode made no sense. Why the heck hold up the store to begin with only to show Max break in later on when nobody was there after the store was closed? Gee... they couldnt do that to begin with? And an Alien Spaceship left with no security whatsoever other then a hidden door... yeah right.

Ive had a few gripes here and there about the writing during the first 2 seasons, but the very first episode of season 3 is just beyond horrible, I cant believe I actually sat through it. If the rest of the season is even half as bad there is no way I will make it through the whole season.

reply

Are we forgetting that this all started because a boy loved a girl and healed her where she then knew all his "secrets"? That is the core of Roswell. That's where it all began and should go back to . Its in the books, and the writers had the sense to follow that premise in season one. To say they is too much max and liz is ridiculous and shows that the history of how the "show" started is not known.

reply

to be fair, Max was only able to enter w/o anyone there because of the robbery. they shut the store down after their arrest because it was a crime scene. i think they show him going under that yellow police tape.

Those Izzy focused eps are so aggravating. I love Izzy, but in increments lol . I fell in love with Roswell because of the balance of everything and everyone, but with the main focus being on Max and Liz...

Not like I love you
