The scene where 15 Years old William got raped by three mature women. Imagine if 3 grown men do the same thing to a teenage girl, everyone would lose their mind.
That's disgusting, poor William. ๎I bet he feel traumatic for the rest his life
While he did mildly object at first, it was more because he was on a deadline and needed to get back to his writing. It was a timing issue more than anything else. In the end, he didn't seem to suffer any negative repercussions from the experience. And the "mature" women were not that much older than him - probably around 18/19 years old.
There wasn't anything to suggest that he didn't go along willingly. Penny left the room while they were all dancing around him, and then the movie cut to the next morning with them all asleep.
Revenge is a dish best served cold. -- Klingon proverb
It's not rape for 3 women, around the same age as him (I don't know why people assume they're like 20, why would they be if Penny wasn't), to instigate sex.
Come, now. I think you are using the term far too freely here.
First, it was not three grown men with a young girl - so don't over-dramatize. Nor was this three grown women with a young boy. The characters were all supposed to be around the same age (the only exception would possibly be Sapphire) and all were consenting. Yeah, William said "no" originally, but sitting there with a big grin on his face two seconds later is hardly a protest. If he wanted to stop - he would have.
Second, this is a movie. It's art. Art is often a reflection of life, so why wouldn't it touch on sensitive subjects like sexual abuse (as you are implying)? Censoring doesn't make the disease disappear, it just puts it in a dark corner, where everyone is afraid to talk about it, even the victims.
You want to make a stand for victims of sexual abuse, I applaud you. Please do. But do it where it might make a difference. In my opinion, that isn't here.
On the contrary, I think the water on this one is pretty crystal clear. You disagree, that's totally fine. Everyone has an opinion and are entitled to it.
They all were. I don't think the majority of the girls were over 18. Even the Zeppelin fan boy (Vic) looked about 15 at the Hyatt. Penny admitted to being 16 to William, and she apparently partied with the tour the previous year, making her 15 at that point in time.
But I don't think the deflowering scene was rape. It was consensual, but you know he wanted it to be Penney.
Yes of course BUT on his terms, "back home" - don't you dudes ever LISTEN to a movie?
I guess virgins would never understand how sex works.
This was simply RAPE particularly by the old hag at 30.
It was included for the very purpose of SHOWING this huge fault in the new small f feminism of 1970 which was meant to give "equality" to everything, but simply degraded boys/men.
Rape by definition requires force. William wasn't forced ergo no rape. At most it was statutory rape, the stupidest legal term ever, and even that is pushing it. "Seduced" is the most accurate term for the method of William's deflowering.
