I have to say, and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this...

But this movie seriously gets better and better every time I see it. It's simply hilarious, and although it's different (I don't mean better or worse) than the Coen's other films, it's still a damn fine movie. Every time it has been on lately I try to make sure I catch at least a few minutes. This movie would be nothing without Clooney, whose razor sharp delivery of lines and amusing facial expressions completely made this movie work. Some great, GREAT quotable lines too...

"Freddy, are you NUTS? You're forgetting about Kershner!"
"Baby Field Greens" "What did you call me??"
"Heinz, the Baron Krauss von Espy"
"She Specificated a -SILLY- man..."
"I told him it was a no go..."
"Everybody likes berries"

I could go on and on, but I won't. I just wanted to say that I thought this movie was great, just as good as any of their other films. People seem to REALLY hate Clooney, though, no matter what he's in, which I just don't understand. He's not the amusing painter from the Facts of Life anymore, people!

I'm a huge fan of the Coens, and for me this movie ranks amongst their best. Its a remarkably rewatchable movie, every time is a pleasure and I agree - Clooney really does shine and make the movie what it is. I love Billy Bob Thorntons character, too :)

Those who hate this excellent movie can't help themselves...
they're im-poe-tent!

Come on, everybody, see Séraphine!

reply

I don't get the hate, I tought the movie was hilarious, especially the verbal fights between Clooney and Jenkins :D

"Ah da da dah, like this in the background. What the *beep* is it with you?"- Christian Bale

reply

I totally agree! I don't understand people that don't like this film, its funny, clever and more entertaining than the majority of the crap out there!

Do guys like "the thing"?
They like it better than no thing.

I laugh out loud many times at this seriously underrated comedy. I wasn't a big Clooney fan until O Brother! Since then I have appreciated most of his work. I suppose this film is dismissed by some simply because the Coen brothers have set the bar so very high.

reply

One of the best comedies this millenium.

"OBJECTION! Strangling the witness
- I'm going to allow this one" also made me laugh :D

reply

I absolutely loved that line about strangling the witness. Gave me a right good chuckle.

I don't like the Coen Brothers movies but this was a huge exception.

Catherine Zeta Jones and George Clooney had great chemistry and make a very nice couple

reply

As far as the George Clooney thing goes, people like to say they dislike the popular things because it's easier than being unique in any genuine way. It's the same with Brad Pitt detractors.

I really think this movie it's very funny. Clooney and Zeta-Jones are great in it.
