If Will Smith had played Neo...
Would Carrie-Anne Moss have still been Trinity? Or would they have gone in a different direction?
shareWould Carrie-Anne Moss have still been Trinity? Or would they have gone in a different direction?
shareis a consequence of
I read that Jada Pinkett Smith was supposed to be his Trinity
shareCarrie-Anne Moss could have still remained as Trinity but the romance would very likely have been nothing more than subtle tension that wouldn't develop into anything overt (e.g. Bad Boys, Men in Black, I-Robot) with the "I love you" & kiss at the end being omitted.
Hollyweird was still very uncomfortable with overt onscreen interracial romances between black male/white female leads especially which were virtually nonexistent in major productions at the time and are only marginally less uncommon 20 years later despite what the SWS crowd would have you believe.
Damn, even robots are racist!
shareYou know if you're going to respond to a two year old comment with a joke/troll post, you could have at least made it funny or make any sense whatsoever.
shareIf I made the post the funny part will never happen, but as for making sense, it’s only because you’re not smart enough to understand it. That’s right, I’m the smartist human being alive. GENUFLECT DOG!!!
sharewill smith sucks. thank the good lord he didn't ruin this movie with his presence... its bogus they even let this bozo on youtube these days...
shareWhy Will Smith turned down "The Matrix"

I would have liked to see that.
shareIf Will had starred in The Matrix, there probably wouldn't be John Wick.
shareCliffs:
- He was on a high from Independence Day and Bad Boys
- Turned down Men in Black because he didn’t want to be the “alien guy”
- the Wachowskis only had one movie under their belt before “The Matrix
- he was supposed to be Neo, but the pitch meeting was weird and he wasn’t feeling their vision
- if he was Neo, Val Kilmer was set to be Morpheus (because they couldn’t have two Black main stars)
That’s interesting. I always thought Val Kilmer would’ve been a better Neo.
shareReally? I heard it was supposed to be Chow Yun Fat for Morpheus. But he turned it down because he doesn't do scifi movies. Ended up in Dragon Ball Evolution ten years later lol.
shareI didn't watch the video. what did he say?
shareKeanu and Carrie-Ann were a perfect match, both so androgynously beautiful that they seemed like variations on the same person. They seemed like they belonged together, were fated to be together, in a way that's very rare for screen couples.
No, it would have been a very different and probably a vastly inferior film with Will Smith. Keanu was a calm center to the action and let it flow around him without affecting his cool, while Smith would have been mugging and trying to charm the audience, the girl, and the other characters. It would not have been "The Matrix" as we know it.
Val Kilmer was going to be Morpheus and Jada Plinket Smith would have been trinity, LOLOLOLO!
shareI can imagine there being articles with titles like "Smith versus Agent Smith" or "Men in Black II" - it was in Will's best interest not to do this movie.
