80s fans be warned

For a guy who likes and have seen lots of 80s comedy this was awful. 16 Candles movie remade into 16 Pie Movie , a uncharming mess.

I agree this movie is freakn' awful.

I grew up in the '80s so I'm spoiled by the best teen films, John Hughes will not be copied.

I did not grow up in the eighties, but I do agree with the original poster!

What has this movie got to do with sixteen candles? As far as I remember sixteen candles was about a family that forgot a girls birthday, then her sister is getting married, grandparents adopt racid joke asian kid or something and come stay at their house for the wedding. Gives undies to nerd to pretend hes cool then later nerd is given a roles royce and allowed to rape the rich cool kids gf. Sister has period and gets married when stoned and girl hangs out with popular guy at end of movie which she has had a crush on.

Yeah I just went through the plot as I remember it for sixteen candles but other than a secret crush and nerd and cool kid hook up at end of movie there is nothing much in common between these movies. It is not meant to be an original masterpiece it is a high school movie, most of them involve a nerd or uptighht character hooking up with a cool kid, thats high school movies

Farmer Ted didn't rape Carolynn. Jesus that point alone is proof that the 80's were a great time for movies. There was no such thing as PC doucebags like yourself that cry rape when it was clearly apparent that it didn't happen.

Back to the OP. I like 80's teen movies, but some (not many - they really cranked out the crap after the first few)the 90's teen movies were just as good. Hughes made a handful of great movies, but he is extremely overrated. He regurgitated the same stuff in all of his movies as well, so to say that the 90's flicks copied is ridiculous considering the fact that he did the same thing over and over.

I really like your car Mrs. Larusso!

Clearly winging about rape.....you dickhead, my post only compared the plots of the two movies saying that cant hardly wait is clearly diff to sixteen candles, nowhere was there commentary about rape in cinema or anything you douchebag, your just a trolll pulling a couple of words out of a paragraph and arguing about something that no-one even said.

I grew up and graduated in the mid-80's and love 80's movies. This is one of the very few 90's movies I love and watch it all the time.

Had Can't Hardly Wait actually been made and released in the '80s, I do wonder who could've starred in it. For Amanda for instance, I guess that I can imagine a Who's the Boss? era Alyssa Milano in the role. She sort of had a similar vibe to Jennifer Love Hewitt in the sense that a lot of boys wanted to her to be their girlfriend while a lot of girls wanted her to be their best friend. Basically, they were practically, among the most desired and spoken about celebrities by kids and teens back then.
