Do Americans like this film????

I love this film, but as most Brits know that Americans have a very different sense of humour (not prejudice in anyway my Aunty is American).

Just this film is made up of very British humour and was just curious to see if Americans enjoyed it as much as us Brits?

I just watched it the other day, and it was pretty damn funny. And im about as red blooded as an American can get too.

I'm American (from the southern redneck, hillbilly states :o)). This was one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. Robert Carlyle is very talented...

This movie.... KICKS ***. I freaking love this movie. When they get caught by the police, and basically the whole station is watching it. I'm American and from Washington State and I can relate to Dave (Mark Addy). Not that a big and fluffy man and a stripper, I'm just the big and fluffy part. But this movie is "bloody damn" awesome lol. This is my second favorite British comedy ONLY behind the legendary Monty Python and The Holy Grail (If MPTHG isn't British, then The Full Monty is my favorite British comedy). This movie deserves at least a 8.4 rating instead of the 7.2 rating. What I love about this movie is that Americans CAN like it. It doesn't have any racy or flamboyant scene, the most is the funniest. They are a just a group of average joes who are looking for a job. Dave did a GREAT job . The only people I can see not liking this spectacular film are the radical-christians and other radical religious people out there, because of the red hair guy and the guy who thinks he can run up walls (who ends up just falling on his back). I do not see anything bad with the entire film.

My husband and I are in the U.S. and we absolutely, positively love this film. A friend in U.K. recommended it when it was in theaters and felt that we understand enough "British" humor that it wouldn't be lost in translation. He was right -- we saw it in the theater, then bought it once it came out on video, and we've been crazy about it from the first time. In fact, we watched it twice just the other day (it's on Encore OnDemand). The show scene at the end leaves us both with huge grins and laughing every time.

I love it and I'm American. The accents are a tiny bit hard to understand at times but that's nothing really. I don't know how anyone cannot have a huge smile on their face after seeing this movie. Unless your a guy that's really uncomfortable with seeing guy butt.

<raises hand> American here, LOVE this movie. I'm watching it on OnDemand (again) right now. Husband loves it, all our friends too.

I grew up watching Monty Python, Benny Hill and Dave Allen at Large - so the humor, accents and language make perfect sense to me.

I'll never look at a gnome the same!

Yet another Yank here! Also watching it OnDemand. It's in my top ten of alltime favorite movies. I love the character's accents and the soundtrack is great.
