Why Are Batman Movies Afraid Of Robin?

We’ve had a lot of Batman movies in the past 20 years, and they’ve all avoided putting Robin onscreen. Maybe it’s time to reconsider?

This is all about the current tendency of fans - the mundane nerd portion - to want Batman and every other superhero to be "realistic". Robin is a crazy concept in a realistic film -- makes me think of Kick-Ass... which is a great film if you are up for it.

Robin is too colorful and offers too much lightheartedness in an atmosphere that directors want to portray as dark and gritty.

Honestly I think it's simply because most people, particularly casual Batman fans not ardent comic book fans, associate Robin with the Adam West show and his "Holy moly Batman" and "Golly gee Batman" dialogue.

Robin's hilarious phrases on the show became so ingrained in pop culture that I think people just think of the character as a joke.

The box office failure of Batman & Robin caused there to be no interest in using a Robin character in subsequent films.

If you want Robin use him in a Teen Titans film or solo Nightwing film.
