Other movies that do a 180 half way through?

Topic.

Full Metal Jacket didn't do a 180. It was two movies in one.

Full Metal Jacket starts out as an amusing boot camp movie then goes straight into the warzone reality

True Romance (also from QT) starts out as a romance then turns into a crime thriller though it's after the first quarter, not halfway through.

This movie does not do a 180 half way through. The plot changes, but that isn't a 180.

I think From Dusk Till Dawn and Psycho still win the 180 contest.

A lot of people mentioned Full Metal Jacket, but that's more of a two-act movie than a real 180 reversal of genre.

First half of the movie is the hellish boot camp experience. The second half of the movie is the hellish war experience.

But they are both military related acts, just in two separate settings.

It's less of a 180 than a two-in-one prequel/sequel.

Ravenous maybe?

unfortunately most these fims listed arent 180'2 just twist ending or 30 mins building the plot before it gets good.......the underrated match point is sort of a stretch but i feel a better example just more subtle then dusk.....i mean it builds into the real meat of the movie more than 180's completely but at the same time half the movie is 1 tone and then it switches genres id say so idk.........also not exactly the same as the genre is the same but death proof which is also underrated.....those both subtlety went against the gain of normal story telling and plot building so those are my 2

this thread would of been better if people just listed the films instead of explaining the switches.....js

Oh great, now it's my dick that's killing me

It starts off as a classy British slightly tongue in cheek version of James Bond -- then it turns into loud, annoying hyperactive offensive crap.

I only read the first few pages, but I'm surprised to see that Kubrick fans have mentioned Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide Shut, but I saw no mention of A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon or 2001: A Space Odyssey (though in the latter case it wasn't half way through). Even Lolita could borderline qualify.
