Other movies that do a 180 half way through? - From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) Discussion

I think the movie "Full Metal Jacket" does a 180 flip halfway.
Before Sgt Gomer Pyle and after him.
The previous part is a dark comedy and the latter is a war drama.

Man Of The Year does a complete 180. It starts off as a typical light fare Robin Williams comedy film and than eventually turns into a dark thriller.

Psycho is a obvious 180 movie
Full metal jacket isn't a genre change but def feels like two movies
The two movies I thought of right away were
The frighteners. It starts like Casper then flips into a supernatural whodunit
Something wild starts like a romantic comedy then Ray liotta shows up
Hostel really does a 180 too it starts like porky's then bam

DAMN, this post is 18 years old. That's crazy.

Anyways, 90% of these responses are not "180 halfway through" type films. Some are twist endings, some are twist openings. Hell, one guy who called everyone a "bunch of idiots" said Alien is this kind of movie, but he's an idiot because Alien starts as a sci-fi, ends as a sci-fi.

Audition (1999) comes pretty close to From Dusk Till Dawn I'd say. Starts off as a romantic comedy and turns into a torture horror film.

The Descent (2005) starts off as an adventure movie about caving, and then suddenly halfway through a it turns into a creature feature horror film out of nowhere.

Red State (2010) changes genres for each act. It starts off as a high school stoner comedy, turns into a torture horror film, and ends as an action heist / political thriller.
