I kid you not, I have never heard anyone tell me that they actually like this movie. I didn't care for it and I'm wondering is it just me and my circle or do people just not like this movie in general? I still can't believe this won best picture over "Fargo"

After this film I bought a couple of her CD's. I really like her music. I knew nothing about her before I saw this film in 1996.
I would not say I disliked The English Patient but I believe it is one of the weakest films to win the Best Picture Oscar.
Not a memorable film imo.
I can't stand this freaking movie. YAK!!!! Ughhh, this was pure torture.
shareTwenty years ago the movie was released, how can that be? I saw it in the movies and liked it but then watched it over the years a few more times. Music, cinematography, the past/present stories, just grew to love it more. One of the best tragic love stories and two actors with the best chemistry, Ralph Fiennes and Kristen Scott Thomas.
