Does anyone like this movie

I kid you not, I have never heard anyone tell me that they actually like this movie. I didn't care for it and I'm wondering is it just me and my circle or do people just not like this movie in general? I still can't believe this won best picture over "Fargo"

I think this movie is epic and anyone that writes it off as a romance isn't paying attention. And at first it's not even about love, not really. Passion and obsession rule and horrible, horrible choices resonate throughout lives forever intertwined by these choices.
It doesn't even approach love until all is lost and selfishness is put aside for selflessness. Then it becomes a story of penance, forgiveness and redemption. And even love and understanding.
People pay sorely for their mistakes in this movie and regret and grief are as much a sign of its suffering as any wounds. Some things can never be undone but there is a kind of solace in the end. Sometimes some things are still worth the risk.

I think it's a pretty complex movie and that's why I think it's a masterpiece.
But I also loved Fargo as well.

Love this movie even though it makes me angry and sad.

I've lost people before, so when I care about someone I plant a tracking device on them.

well, i can see why you might not care for it. but it is an epic and that gives it a scope that is attractive. personally i love epics, so there we go

Yes, I do and you do too - get some new friends and quit worrying about what other people think.

I use to not like it at all. Now it's one of my favorites.

Loved it.

This may have been mentioned before but Seinfeld did a whole episode on people who love this movie too much - Lost in Translation was the one I never could understand the fanatic response. There are so many people who go crazy over a movie for no reason. I think half of what people think of a movie depends on their mood/sex when they see it.

I thought it was all right. Much of it felt predictable and trite, but there may have been more freshness to it during the '90s.
