To the OP: Yes, I'm sure millions do; I'm just not one of them - and this has nothing to do with Fargo (which I loved) not winning- or my favorite picture of that year, Secrets & Lies, not getting the BP Oscar.
Honestly, I don't mind a so-called "boring" film as I've liked and been moved by quite a few films that many would find to be boring. I just did not feel any real connection to the main characters. A book or film can purport to be about many things that would normally involve me - and even dress it up with great technique - but I needed more story and more sympathetic characters/situations to identify with.
Others - probably many on this board and elsewhere - would disagree.
ps I saw this in the theatre when released and tried watching the last half on TV just a little while ago.
