Still the best CGI animated movie of all time.
Toy Story 3 is a banger too.
shareI would agree with that. Just a pity they had to spoil things with the dire Toy Story 4. TS3 finished things off beautifully imo.
shareI liked part 4 but it was so unnecessary. I was really expecting a great reason why they decided to revisit the franchise, but all they came up with was just another adventure but this time without Andy.
shareYes it is still one of my favourites. Monsters Inc is a close second.
shareif the animation still holds up after more than twenty years, then it probably always will. This is seriously one of the best animated movies to exist, and I love the animation of the third as well, with a shinier look. You can always expect the best kind of cgi animation from pixar, but honestly their very first movie animation is just good as some of their newer ones. I mean sure in some spots it's dated like with the dog/human characters but with the technology they had at the time, it was so experimental.
shareThe only positive in terms of animation for the newer films, is the amount of detail. The original film still holds up.
shareBug’s Life is probably my favorite Pixar film but I get the impression it wasn’t as popular as the others since it never got a sequel.
shareI've always felt that was an underrated one. I never see that on any lists of best animated films and it should be there.
shareTotally forgot about that one, will be great to revisit with the kid
shareUp.
And Toy Story looks dated AF. The models are relatively low poly and while the resolution of the textures were insane for the time, they were just that for the time.
I didn't like Up that much. The old man walks with a cane and then jumps places that even young people couldn't do. It was like Yoda in Episode II.
shareAlmost like it's fiction!
shareDoesn't mean I have to give it a pass.
shareActually that's exactly what it means. You don't have to like it, but you have to accept it. And I mean, you're fine with sentient toys.
shareI'm fine with sentient toys because it's consistent within the story. The old man in "Up" walks around with a cane and suddenly has the body of a 20-year-old when he needs it.
shareNo, it's not.
The toys are fine, but all the human characters look like they're made out of plastic.
And yeah, I know it was released in 1995 and it was as good as it could be with the technology at the time.
And fortunately, it is about the toys and never was supposed to have human characters in the focus.
But still, it didn't age well in that regard...
