Did anyone get a little grossed out by Simon's interaction with the buck-toothed little girl? It was like he was trying to seduce her and how he transferred the soul to her was a little too much. Comments?

Geezus people, "pedophilia" as defined in this thread-meaning sexual attraction to prepubescent children-is simply not an issue with angels because they're asexual.
Now if you were to say that HUMANS and the way they've adapted those specific behaviors for use in luring children in for their own sexual gratification made you uncomfortable, that would be understandable. In this instance, however, you're trying to assign human behaviors to an angel.
That is not to say that what Simon did do to Mary didn't have just as much (if not more) of an impact physically, mentally, and of course spiritually as being molested, but it's very important to be clear in what exactly makes you uncomfortable about that scene.

Yes, an Angel is not going to be a pedophile. An Angel is asexual.
Simon was transferring a soul, to what he thought would be a good hiding place, and given the limited time he had to do it in. First person he encounters when he is hanging out in the abandoned floor of the bldg and after having been mortally wounded was the little girl. Her name is 'Mary' which he notes (obvious Biblical reference). He then chooses her as the hiding place for the soul. And, the way they do that in this movie is via the mouth (just like he did with the corpse). It wasn't supposed to be a 'kiss', but a transfer of the soul through the mouth.
When Mary starts to describe this experience, the teacher reacts as if she thinks Mary *has* been molested, which is a logical inference given that she was then ignorant about the whole Angel thing going on (however, viewers are not ignorant of this). I don't think her character, once she learned about the Angel War and all that, gave sexual molestation a second thought!
There are other movies where souls/beings have been transferred to humans through the mouth (e.g., 'The Invasion'; 'The Hidden'), through the eyes (e.g., 'The Astronaut's Wife'), through touch (e.g., ‘Fallen'), and all kinds of infections/whatever through bites (any vampire movie).
This was just about soul transfer, NOT about pedophilia.
But, if the scene makes someone uncomfortable, I guess they can just fast forward through it, and stay with the scenes of impaled Angels, plunging fingers into eye sockets, burning bodies, etc.

They likely used this method because they knew it would make some people very uncomfortable. that was what this movie was about. It took you out of your comfort zone. the problem arises from people who think about sex and peversion to the point where that is all they can see. Yes, it was a bit uncomfortable. However, only somebody with pedophilia issues would see that scene as a pedophilia scene.

The entire pedophile thing, "daterape", "sexual predator" and all the other buzzwords that are currently overused in amercian media are getting waaaay out of hand. It did seem a little too creepy. He sounded like what i assume a child molester would sound like. He was tooo nice. Then he gave her a smooch. BUT this is no time to call Chris Hanson over at "How to Catch a Predator". He didn't involve a little tongue action like a sicko pedo would. He just breathed Hawthorne's soul into her. It was still creepy, though!
There was no tongue because there was no "smooch". For the soul to be transferred from one being to another, it was done by either a sucking out of or blowing into action via open mouth to open mouth more similar to cpr than kissing. Simple as that...
