The soundtrack

One of the best out there. I own it and listen to it all the time. Promentory, in particular, is one of the best pieces of music to listen to while working/writing out there, in my opinion.

Absolutely, I've been listening to the soundtrack off and on for over 20 years now.

I got to see Her Majesty's Band of the Royal Marines play the LOTM theme in my area last year when they went on tour of North America. As part of that piece they transition into playing "The Gael" which is the cyclic fiddle piece from Promentory.

They are simply outstanding and to the hear the music live is unbelievable and was the highlight of their show for me. They had the longest standing ovation after playing it at the concert I attended.

This is what it sounds and looks like:

Although they had a smaller group on tour than in the video with about 10 bagpipers, it was still amazing live, highly recommend.

Definitely one of the best.

It was reputably a favorite of Pope John Paul II, (as well as one of the first down loads I took of the net.)

yeeees without a doubt, a masterpiece !!

reply

Agreed. I love it, unfortunately I had it on cassette. I also kept thinking it would have made great background music for an Olympic skating program but to date no one has ever used it.

Renny Harlin probably used it as a temp track for his Cliffhanger, because Trevor Jones' Cliffhanger score was a carbon copy of the main theme. Both films were composed by Jones.

Same here! Own and have listened to it for years also. It stirs and elevates the soul. One of the greatest movie intros, ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kdLktqGrJg

This movie was robbed at the Oscars for both Original Score and Cinematography. Will Smith slapped the wrong people.
