How do you guys feel about Trump being removed digitally? ?

Reports lately have indicated that due to the Capitol insurrection on 6 January, 2021 with fascist thugs loyal to Trump, Disney+ will digitally remove Trump in Home Alone 2 and the 90 year old Christopher Plummer will be placed in the role instead, much as he replaced Kevin Spacey in that awful flop from Ridley Scott. I'm a little uneasy when people start tampering with films like George Lucas diid. I personally would prefer the one with Trump not because I like him but because that is how it was originally made well before anybody knew he would turn out to be America's very own Mussolini. What do you guys think about tampering with films that have material which IN THE MOMENT is considered too offensive to be seen?

[Postscript 12/9/2021 -- This post was written in early 2021 after the January 6th insurrection at the Capitol which was the closest the US has come to having outright fascists take over this country in a manner no different than the Nazis. There was in fact talk of removing Trump from Home Alone 2 at that time but that has since died down. Still, I leave this post up here since it touches on subjects like censorship. Many feel artists and their works should be "canceled" (meaning, disappeared from the culture) if they fail to conform to modern ethics which so many believe are so much more enlightened than previous eras. For instance, woke "comedian" Hannah Gadsby morally objects to notorious lothario Picasso and his penchant for women much younger than himself. His art doesn't matter. She calls him "Picasshole" and supports his disappearance from the pantheon of great artists based solely on his sexual proclivities. The #MeToo fanatics in the US and UK have successfully canceled Roman Polanski''s "J'Accuse" due not to the film but his legal issues from over 40 years ago in the US. The film has found no distributor in English-speaking countries. The idea of canceling any artist or censoring supposedly objectionable footage (even as innocuous as Trump's cameo in Home Alone 2) is a subject worth discussing.]

????????

It won't be Plummer but a CGI recreation/deepfake 1983 era Mark Hamill

Those "let's not show Donald" last Christmas were stupid.

And that "E.T" re-edit was a disaster.

reply

Spielberg realized the error instantly. Thats why the "Special Edition" wasnt released on Bluray.

reply

Terrible idea.

reply

Should be Nic Cage

reply

Haha

Why do you think my family got our own dvd copies? No way in hell I'm gonna let Disney manipulate the movie because they're all getting their panties in a twist about Trump.

reply

I'm still miffed that Disney+ digitally removed Darryl Hannah's bare ass in "Splash".

reply

Makes me glad my parents bought a dvd of that as well :) Better get them while you can.

Are they also going to digitally remove his hotel lobby where the entire scene took place too? How's that going to work?

I admit I am not for removing Trump's scene as Trump owned that Hotel but it would just take a minute off the film's runtime and you'd just have Kevin entering the lobby on his own. Also at the time the movie was made Trump owned the hotel and the only reason they got to film in that hotel is because he would only let them film there if he got a cameo. So without Trump, none of the the hotel scenes would exist. Well, that's not true. They'd just have to get a crappy set replica to replace all the scenes that were filmed in the hotel. What's funny is if the hotel happened to be owned by Bill Gates and he was the one that got a cameo nobody would care.

reply

I believe they did use replica sets for all hotel scenes except for the lobby which was too ornate to accurately recreate. I'm going off of memory here but I'm fairly sure that's what I read. All in all Trump's cameo was a fair trade for shooting the scene on his premises. I hope all this talk of digitally removing him is just satire.

reply

Yeah. It made me think, "Would they remove the 911 operator's reference to Donald Trump in Die Hard with a Vengeance?"

reply

They should replace him with the Merry Christmas you filthy animal guy.

reply

He's dead

reply

Is this just a silly rumor or are they for real?

I don’t care about Trump but I agree that it is stupid to remove him.

Revisionist history so to speak. But I guess it happened since the beginning of times - from Egypt pharaohs names being removed after they died when their rivals took over, to Stalin removing people from photos.

reply

It's happening right now in our country.

reply

Yup

No way to tell anymore. There was a time when The Onion News Network used to be funny, but there's nothing so bizarre that someone won't say anymore.

reply

Not to mention the twin towers being removed..

reply

Did they take those out? I haven't seen the film in awhile.

reply

Read that they did..

reply

They are still there.

Very, very nice!😎
