Apart from Van Damme's (already) limited, stilted, mechanical skills as a martial artist, this film sucked (from a fight, plot, acting, FX scenario)
Yet people have blind 'fan-boy' love for sub-par shit like this?
There was far better martial-arts movies made that year (so why does this get a pass?)
My favorite movie of his. The slow-mo action sequences are top notch.

First, you get, not one, but TWO Van Damme in one movie - this alone deserve watching the movie.
Second, the awesome fights with really great fighters, with Bolo Yeung as the best one, but even the female they pick look like a really action hero (Corinna Everson) and not another fantasy girl.
Last, really nice combination of action and a little humor, things I loved most in JCVD movies.
I can't see how anyone can hate this awesome movie.
