I wish i knew people who love this film

I came across this movie on cable, some weird channel that doesn't even exist anymore, like an IFC type channel. Around 2005ish. I just fell in love with it. I watch it a few times a year and I connect with so much of it. But no one I know has every even heard of it.

Even my cousins who actually grew up in the 80s and were huge River Phoenix fans, (I was born in 1984 and only knew of Stand By Me before he died), they hadn't seen it either.

And I'm kind of embarrassed to show it to people to because I identify with it so much, but I wish I knew people who I could watch this with and quote the lines, and order like Rose at restaurants with.

Oh well.

Ananeke, you have finally met someone who does think this movie is a wonderful, character driven story. It's not so much that the story is great because we've seen stories like this before. River and Lilli became these people and I felt as if I was watching them interact in life. The ending is just perfect, nothing needed to be said. You can see that he was injured. He walked with a slight limp, but you forgot when they held each other. Some movies does not need to be explained. all you need is to listen and watch the characters talk, move and stare. **** four star movie. I wish I can give it five.
One other thing that I thought was magnificent. The scene in the restaurant when they ordered their movie. She commented a lot on his swearing. When the waiter asked her, what did she want to order. She used swear words in each sentence. She wanted him to listen to how he sounded. (Brilliant scene)

Oh, I love it too. I have for years and years, and I have no idea how or when I came across it. Must have been on TV though, because I know I taped it and watched it about a million times. I was so in love with River, adored Lili and fascinated by the elusive E.G. (Later to be found on the Voice ... Life IS strange, isn't it?)

Just chiming in to join your club of people in the know of this magic little wonder. :)
