If remade today what race would Belle be?
Thoughts?
shareWhat race is Emma Watson?
I mean, they *did* actually remake this film a mere 6 years ago.
But that was before Disney went on a diversity rampage.
shareAriel and Tinkerbell remain the only two originally white Disney characters to be black in a remake, don't they?
And I won't make a fuss about those two since I don't think that a mermaid nor a fairy has to be white.
It is not like when Anne Boleyn was played by a black actress, which is very much historically incorrect.
Neither the Little Mermaid nor Tinkerbell are original Disney Characters. The first was created by Hans Christian Andersen, the second by James Barrie. Both were white.
shareNot really, they had black people living in a French 18th century mountain village in that movie and LeFou was also supposed to be gay.
shareBeast could be a black panther.
They could break dance in the grand hall.
Belle could twerk and pole dance.
Of course Gaston would still be a creepy white guy. An orange Ginger with a red hat.
Unfortunately the most unbelievable part of the story would be that Belle had a father.
Well, Belle is French so she would likely be retooled as an Arab.
This big burka shuffles into the castle and the Beast is like ‘..the fuck?’
Which do you prefer?
shareA single drop, each and every one if them. You see, we all stem from Africa....
shareHow much time do you spend worrying about these things? Does it also offend you to see non-white baby dolls when you go to a toy store?

Why are you asking this?
A remake has already been made, and it was released only 6 years ago.
Not speaking for OP, but wokeness moves the goalposts virtually every month. 6 months is a lifetime ago, much less 6 years.
I don't know why he's asking exactly, but if the Emma Watson live action hadn't been made and Disney was right now doing a what-if about remake coming soon, it makes me wonder in what direction Disney would go with this.
Exactly. That’s why I said “if remade today.”
