They should remake this movie....
I remember watching this when I was younger, and thinking that it was very unique. Now again 10 or 15 years later I am currently watching it on cable thinking...remake this!!!

sharePerhaps instead of remaking the original, they should make the planned second film (and then possibly third film) that was originally planned.
They needn't even promote it as a part two, just provide a recap/summary (which could be someone telling the story to a new character or one of the Midians telling the story to their children, with excerpts from the original film) - and, of course, keep all the original characters (though considering how much time has gone by, they needn't necessarily keep the same actors, which may save money).
It was a REALLY interesting story, and I really would have liked to have seen more of it.
Also, I'd really like to see a director's cut of the original film, as it was butchered to buggery. Why can't they just let the fans have it? If the material was already filmed and the director wants to make a director's cut, then why can't they just get it done already?

A remake should be done with Clive Barker overseeing the project. It should not be a theatrical film, but instead should be brought to the small screen. Have TNT make it, or HBO. Turn it into a series with the events of this first movie serving as a pilot. Clive has always said that this was just the beginning of a trilogy, yet he never went back and wrote the sequels, not even to his novel, Cabal. It is too many years later now to get everyone back, so start afresh and have Clive Barker to advise and give ideas about where to take the story. The world of Cabal is rich and should have a chance to shine and expand on TV. It will never get anywhere in movies, since it is limited in time and not guaranteed success. At least with a series, we could get at least one season and have more story than we possess now. It would be nice to see actors from the old movie cameo as well.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?
After finally watching the film and it was awesome I really feel a mini series could be amazing. I usually hate remakes, but like was said a 6 part mini series or something along that line that could explore these events more in detail would be, could be sweet

this so good no remake is necessary. but if it happened i would give the remake a chance. i wounder how a Rob Zombie version would look
Rob Zombie is one of the greatest directors today

yeah it does doesnt it!
Since its not slasher film its more of a fantasy film
And have all the fantastic practical effects be replaced with computer graphics?
NO THANK YOU
We've met before, haven't we?
Usually not a big fan of remakes, but given the wasted potential this one had, and the fact that it's been long enough for it not to be too redundant, I'd think it's definitely possible to make a good one out of this.
For some reason I always figured Guillermo del Toro would be a good choice to pick this up.
Setting up strange underworld type settings has always been his strong suit and I'd love to see what he could do with Meridian.
