They should remake this movie....
I remember watching this when I was younger, and thinking that it was very unique. Now again 10 or 15 years later I am currently watching it on cable thinking...remake this!!!

First off let me say that Nightbreed is in my top 5 movies, that being said, this movie should NOT be remade. The original is already a classic so a remake wouldn't live up to expectations. And for those who think it's not a good movie; why remake a bad film?
Enjoy the movie that WAS made...it is a great film as is.

i totally agree, this movie has been a favorite of mine for years and dont believe its gotten the recognition it deserves....there are no movies out there anymore that have the unique quality of this film. i,like many enjoy all my original horror films...do not try to re make this....it is perfection just as: HALLOWEEN
PHANTASM
NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
FRIDAY THE 13TH
AMITYVILLE HORROR
JUST TO NAME A FEW..... f.y.i, the bad guys were scary because they just popped up out of nowhere!! they didnt run you down because they didnt have to!!!!
No remake,we havnt even seen the full movie yet, directors cut plz.
I'm running this monkey farm now frankenstein!!!Captain Rhodes
One of the great things about this movie blackiechan77, is the time and care given to the makeup. A remake would remove all of that and replace it with CGI. I'm not opposed to CGI... but sometimes it's nice to see the old school effects.
We don't need a bunch of demon avatars running around.
I read that the extra footage was restored and will be screened at some horror fest this month.
Remaking this film, after the director painfully fought for the extra footage for nearly 20 years would be pointless. If anything there should be a definitive double disc special edition sold and if that sold well, perhaps Barker can move with his sequel or his prequel to this.

Not restored yet, they have found two significantly longer cuts of the film on VHS and it is one of these (or copy thereof) that is being screened with the blessing of the studio owning it. Restoration won't happen until the studio deems it has significant interest in it and last I heard they didn't think so.
If you haven't signed the petition (or petitions as there are two of them) I suggest you do so, don't know if it will make a difference but it couldn't hurt.

It's so 'organic', you feel like you could touch the creatures, with CGI that is gone. I mean compare, muppet Yoda to CGI Yoda, the muppet is more realistic.
Besides no one can replace my favorite mutant, the "meat for the beast" guy, he's so awesome.

No. They should make some new sh*t. *beep* and boycott remakes!!!! It's way past old.

I know the feeling of watching an older movie as a kid around that point in time and loving something, but then watching it now as an adult it is significantly less watchable. However, I do not find this to be one of those movies, even more so, I have serious doubts (like most others here) that a remake in today's studio system would do the original any justice.
The US has a miserable track record this past decade for horror. Most of the decent to great horror movies have come from other countries. Besides "Drag Me To Hell," "Zombieland" and maybe a few select others, we are completely bankrupt of original American horror greats.
Worse yet are our remakes. The past decade was THE decade of terrible horror remakes. The only great horror remake I can think of off the top of my head was "The Hills Have Eyes" which was directed by a french filmmaker.
I could go further, but I'll leave it to others, but, in short, we do have a legitimate reason to frown on remakes for movies like this.

There is absolutely no reason for a remake when an un-edited (director's cut) exists.
Give us the original, as it was meant to be. Anything less is unacceptable...

I agree. This could easily be remade. I don't like the way the screenplay veers from the book so much.
shareI wouldn't want a remake unless Clive Barker is making it. That guy wrote the original story, so he should be doing what he wants with the remake if one is being made.
