The scene that just broke my heart...

When DeNiro dances with the girl and then watches her through the fenced window as she leaves to get on her bus....this scene makes me cry and cry again--it is so well done. It happens while everyone quietly watches and then they all look away when he leaves the window and makes his way back out of the room....POWERFUL scene....wow.

I'm not much of a crier when it comes to movies, but this is the one scene in the movie that made me cry. It was very powerful!

Two scenes teared me up

Near the beginning when Leonard firsts "Awakes" hes sitting at the table and Dr Sayers sits down next to him and he gives the sweetest half smile.....sniff sniff

And later on in the film when Leonard's Dystonia is uncontrollable ands he's holding his head to stop it jerking and he's sobbing and says " I've let everybody down, Im grotesque look at me tell me Im not"......

This movie just broke my heart, I'm not a big crier in movies either, nonetheless I was watching it with my parents sister aunt and cousin, but yea that scene... was very powerful... my heart just broke for him and for her. Towards the end of the movie I could feel my eyes filling with tears... wow powerful movie... definitely need that "Awakening" to appreciate the things we seem to take for granted in this life indeed

It just got to that part I'm watching...I believe we cry because it's one of the first acts of humanity. We don't want to feel abandoned. We want to feel loved. I think it was the first moment he felt truly cared for

it was the most vulnerable thing.

Im a guy but I tend to cry at loads of films, and the dancing scene with Paula and the scene after where he watches her from the window just killed me with sadness, I cried my eyes out. De Niro is such a great actor, and he makes it so believable where no other actor could, and theres something about penelope ann miller that makes it so beautiful. In the dancing scene, its so sad because she is crying perhaps at the idea that they could be together in another walk of life if he didnt have this condition and confirmed to the hospital. Thats what I think anyway, its just so so so sad.

Me too and my tough BF who never shows tearful emotion, he was sniffing away at that scene while I teared up. A very sad emotional scene and does make one feel very grateful to be healthy and a reminder that there are people who are so much worse off than me.

The scene that always gets me is when the nursing staff turns over their paychecks to fund the experiment.

I don't cry much in movies either, but like someone else did, I cried at the end when they are watching the footage and the nurse tells Robin's character he is a kind man and that the two (Robin and DeNiro) are friends, such a powerful statement.
