Can people recommend other good sci-fi movies

Hi there all,

Just would like a list of other good sci-fi movies like this.

Things such as:
The Thing
Tremors
etc etc

Really love this era of Sci-Fi and want to get some new films.

Hi-

Love the same type of movies. One that isn't creature associated, but kind of ahead of it's time on theme, was "Brainstorm." It didn't get a huge release, due to Natalie Wood dying, but it is pretty darn good. Looks into virtual reality etc. way before it was really a big thing or possible. Christopher Walken is in it and of course he is great. Just an all around good movie for the time.

And, of course, I love "Lawnmower Man" with P.Brosnan and Jeff Fahey. Fantastic movie.

Be sure if you watch the Thing movie, to watch the original old one AND the new one. Both are really good.

Have fun watching. : )

OH and an older movie that isn't perfect, but creepy just the same is "Embryo." I think it is from the 70's. It is about a test tube baby that grows up quickly and is taught via recordings etc. while it is "growing." It is creepy and pretty good too.

I'd suggest that you see Shadowzone (1989 or 1990). It was a low budget Paramount film that I once rented and found to be quite good. Has anyone else here seen it?

Science fiction….
Silent Running
Outland (sort of a ‘ High noon’ story in space)
Blade Runner ("Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”)
The Omega Man (not the crappy remake)
Or just about anything else written by Richard Matheson
The Andromeda Strain ( 1971 )
Of course the 2 greatest Science fiction movies of all time 2001 and The day the Earth stood still (original not the remake) Of course Dune… even the mini series on Scfi Chanel is ok
Sratgate
Some of the fun ones from the 50s
Earth verses the flying saucers
This Island Earth
The Thing (original)

Horror
Re-animator (H.P. Lovecraft)
Salem’s Lot

I don't think it can be considered "good", but I thoroughly enjoyed VIRUS, which is in the same vein as this film.

Tank Girl
The Langoliers
Soylent Green
Cargo
Pandorum

Definitely recommend David Cronenberg's 70s and 80s films, like:

Scanners
Videodrome
The Brood
Shivers/They Came From Within

What about Pandorum? Just watched it and found it more enjoyable then I was expecting to.
