Did the Joker really kill Bruce’s parents?

It is apparent in the movie that Bruce remembers Jack Napier (The Joker) being the killer of his parents, but what if really his memory is just him projecting his hate of the Joker onto his parents’ killer and making himself more determined to stop him and save Gotham from the evil criminal.

Joker pretty much admitted to it in the tower

In the comics I read during the 70s it was Joe Chill who killed Bruce’s parents but in Burton’s movie it was Joker.

It was definitely Jack Napier/Joker. IIRC the other hood with him calls out 'Let's go, Jack!'. Actor Hugo Blick is even listed in the cast as 'Young Jack Napier'.

I wonder if young Jack Napier's accomplice was supposed to be a young version of Bob the Goon or Joe Chill himself.

This was the one part of the movie I didn't care for. Other than that it was a great movie.

This is apparently something extremely controversial of this movie... I actually like it a lot because it makes the Batman/Joker relationship so intimate and gives it that 'full circle' element by making them responsible for creating each other.

I agree.
