Am I the only person in the world who hates this movie I used to get forced to watch it and the many mind-numbing sequels when I was a kid

the first one isn't even in the same universe as the *beep* sequels!! don't even compare them, that is blasphemous lol. and no, i absolutely love this movie, and always will. and for all the pretentious posers who want to act like they were FAR too mature at the age of FOUR to enjoy a great animated movie..well i guess that's your loss

shareI actually hate all the Don Bluth movies. He's a talented artist and was an innovator at one time, but he's a hack director and writer. The stories and characters are pretty awful. Secret of NIMH is terrible, the book is amazing, and he just eviscerated it.
shareSince this topic still has a lot of attention, I'll put my two cents. Now hate is too strong a word and really it's hard for me to outright hate any film. But I will say that this film is my least favorite of Don Bluth's 80s films. The animation if good as always and this may be the best score of any of his films. But I have a hard time dealing with the child voice actors for the characters, they really take me out of this one. Also, despite being know for being "dark", I find most of the film to be surprisingly light hearted fluff and not the good kind of fluff. I liked this film as a kid, but it just doesn't appeal to me now. Oh and just for the record, the problem isn't that it's an animated film, that fact should help it since I'm an animation fanatic, but this one just doesn't do much for me.
