THIS IS THE GREATEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE EVER

Just my opinion, love its Christmas message and love its Christmas athmosphere.

I'm not a kid so I don't need santa in it (at least not one without a machine gun- ho-ho-ho)

reply

Yup, Xmas eve tradition for me.

reply

I dont class it as a Christmas movie simply because it has no christmas theme. Christmas is not relevant to the plot of the movie at all. It just happens to take place at Christmas.

Of course that does not stop it from being advertised and marketed as a christmas favorite because, you know...money.

reply

Christmas is woven into the plot throughout the film:

1. John comes out to visit his kids for Xmas
2. The scene is a Xmas office party with Xmas decorations
3. Santa Hat + “Now I have a machine gun Ho! Ho! Ho!”
4. The movie closes with “Let it Snow!”

Here are some great marketing items https://www.etsy.com/market/die_hard_christmas

reply

... aaaand the heist is planned for Xmas because they know the building will be vacant. It is a Christmas movie. Those who say it isn't are argument fans and are seething/unhinged.

reply

“It's Christmas, Theo. It's the time of miracles. So be of good cheer... and call me when you hit the last lock.”

Even the bad guy is celebrating the spirit of Christmas!

reply

Exactly

reply

Just bumping for 2022.

Merry Christmas to every motherfucker.

reply

this movie made me love christmas even more than i already did.

reply

Rateater,
that is beautiful, man!
If I were an exec, I could not find a better blurp for a promotional poster or a DVD cover.
You nailed it.

reply

EVEN HARDER*

reply

Ahahah, ok brilliant but the way rateater wrote it sounds more sincere and not just an awesme tagline.

reply

A special merry 2023 Christmas, motherfucker!
To Bruce Willis.

reply

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Yippe-kai-ah, motherfucker!

reply

And to you too!
Welcome to the party, pal!

reply

If it was located in NY or elsewhere with snow - it would have been even more chrismessy ;)

reply

Well, I find LA just fine.
But they go for that let it snow feel big time in DH2.

reply

Lethal Weapon is a more funny and ironic dark Christmas movie than Die Hard.

reply

No, it's not.

reply

Lethal Weapon:

-Jingle Bell rock over the opening suicide scene
-cocaine bust at the Christmas Tree lot
-Santa impersonator watching the other suicide jumper
-Looney Tunes Christmas cartoon playing in Mel Gibson suicide contemplation scene
-One cop uses a police baton as a conductor's wand leading other cops in Christmas carol singing
-Dude gets sniped in the chest right thru the jug of eggnog he was drinking
-Cops use Scrooge and driving a car into a Christmas tree to distract the bad guy
-One cop gets a bullet as a Christmas gift

Die Hard...is during the Christmas season and the Ho Ho Ho I have a Machine Gun bit?

reply

And yet, all that stuff that you listed does NOT make Lethal Weapon a more funny and ironic dark Christmas movie than Die Hard.

reply

Ya know...I think it does. You just saying "no" and nothing else isn't really an argument for Die Hard lol.
