It's a Tim Burton film. He doesn't really do logic. You either go with it or you don't. Most of those never bothered me.
The only thing I've never understood (not enough to ruin my enjoyment of it) is how the hell is Otho pushing Barbara out of the way in the closet when she's hanging? He can't see her so what's he moving? Is he supposed to be just nudging the noose out of the way with his elbow and there's just no comment about the noose because they're so fixated about how small the closet is? I don't know.
