One Crazy Summer VS Better Off Dead....
I think Better Off Dead was the better of the two movies.It had the adorable Diane Franklin in it.It was also the funnier of the two movies.

I bought Better Off Dead twice and borrowed One crazy summer twice, i think you can tell which one i like better ^_^

Better off Dead is better than One Crazy Summer, but thats
not a knock against OCS,I just think better off dead is funnier
than most comedies from the 80's.
Its one of those movies that you can watch over and over
and always find something new. Its too bad that Cusack
doesn't like it. Maybe if he wins an oscar he will be more
forgiving of the goofy movies in his past.

Guess I'll be the voice of discension. I always found OCS a lot funnier than Better off Dead, even though it had Demi Moore in it which is usually the kiss of death for a movie in my eyes. Love them both though, still very funny all these years later. Never knew until recently though how unhappy Cusack was filming it.

Make it three votes for OCS. BOD is a classic, but there's something about OCS's pacing which makes me like it more. It just flies by, one throwaway joke after the next. BOD took it's time a little more and just seem to unfold at a slower clip. And I guess I just like the feel of OCS more; the last day of school stuff, goofy island stuff. Both great movies, though.
shareONE CRAZY SUMMER is my favorite of the two. I saw it in the theater when it came out (twice!), and the Godzilla scene had the entire audience rolling on the floor. The only other comedy I've seen do that to an audience was "The Gods Must Be Crazy". Seeing it in the theater is one of my most memorable movie-going experiences. I also like Cusack's "The Sure Thing" more than "Better Off Dead" too.
One Crazy Summer, hands down. Better Off Dead... is a quotable classic, but I feel that it was full of a lot of "easy" jokes. That's not to say OCS didn't have them, but it always seems like BOD relies on them too much. I also think that OCS was a better finished product. Better writing, story, pacing, editing, acting, etc; just an overall a better film.

It's a tough call, but I'm going with OCS for one reason- the scene where Bobcat tells the story of "a little fat boy". That scene cannot be topped.

shareI personally like "One Crazy Summer" better for one simple reason: It takes place in the summer (it's January, in Denver, and it's colder that a witch's t*t in a brass bra as I write this). Then again, there's Diane Franklin in "Better off Dead." Yet, there's Demi Moore...singing....in OCS. But, the dry humor of David Ogden Stiers and Kim Darby's deadpan delivery in BOD. Wait, there is that "Cookie" character in OCS...Well, there's also the Howard Cosell Asian guy in BOD. Yeah, no, I like them both, even though "Grosse Pointe Blank is just about my all-time favorite movie. Of course, there is "The Sure Thing..."

i'm sorry, i tried really hard to like OCS, but everytime i watch it (like 3x) i get crazy bored! BOD is wayyy better. OCS just can't hold my attention. sure thing is alright too.

Whichever one I last watched, I think that one is funnier. When I was 14 or 15 I probably watched One Crazy Summer each day for two months straight. After that, I started to see Better Off Dead a lot more. I think I quote BOD more, except for Bobcat's "little fat boy" speech. I could probably put BOD, OCS, and The Sure Thing on rotation forever. the comment about the music from OCS is very true---very good classic soundtrack.
