We currently live in the age of overthinking any movie staring a woman or minority into some SJW liberal PC propaganda piece. Aliens is about a masculine butch woman who starts bossing around highly trained military marines and saves the day as the other actually trained soldiers are killed. She’s always right, always succeeds the impossible, takes zero shit, and kicks any dude’s ass. Also, she’s a civilian space trucker with zero combat experience but shoots better and outdoes the highly trained marines in every regard.

Face it. This movie would be labeled as SJW pandering liberal garbage if it were released today in 2019. But is it? No, of course not, just as Get Out and Terminator: Dark Fate aren’t. Okay, so a movie doesn’t star a white male. Who cares? It’s just a damn movie.

He isnt dissing the movie
He isnt saying this is a SJW woke movie from the 80s and therefore we should hate it.

He's dissing assholes who jump on any modern movie with a woman in it and dismiss it as "woke shit" , especially if its an action movie like this.

by saying "if this movie came out today it wouldnt be as successful"
he's making the point that the internet hes given every white male asshole a voice ,

He´s completely wrong though because Ripley is too feminine and not masculine enough for today´s woke culture. Not to mention, a woman conveying maternal instincts as virtuous is a modern day faux-pas for the woke agenda.

A woman doesent have to check all of the 20 or so boxes to be labelled "woke garbage"
any one of them will do and the usual asshats will jump on it .
Dark fate girl gets labelled "woke lesbo feminzi bitch" purely becasue she has short hair and doesnt fit these dickwads picture of the porn models they jerk off to,

But a lot of these girls in action flicks are quite attractive so they have to resort to other variations of their perceived "woke shit" agenda .

I have not seen the whole of Dark Fate, for various reasons but I think there is valid, nuanced/detailed criticism than something as superficial as one of the female characters having short hair.

Having now seen the film, I actually think Mackenzie Davis is the least of the film´s problems. She was the best new character by a country mile which isnt saying much but I think her "masculinity" has been somewhat overstated but the film is definitely woke nonetheless.

Your whole post is bullshit. Ripley didn't kick the ass of male marines or anything similarly physically implausible. She learned how to fire pulse rifles and did it well. That's about it. No Mary Sue nonsense here.

Wonder Woman and Alita Battle Angel came out not that long ago, starring female characters that physically outperformed many if not all of the men thanks to their powers, and guess who liked them? Right wingers, centrists, and moderate leftists. Guessed who hated them? Radical leftist SJWs. Guess which movie the latter people preferred? Captain Marvel.

If Aliens came out today, with no changes, radical leftist SJWs would still hate it, while everyone else would still love it.

lol nope, the "trumptards" still haven't shit on Halloween, or the first two Alien movies, or the first two Terminator movies, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or Xena: Warrior Princess, or practically any female-centric story before 2015 when wokeness took off. Even then, they also liked post-2015 movies like Wonder Woman and Alita: Battle Angel, as well as any anime with a female lead, because those weren't woke.

If you’d actually seen those movies, and paid attention, you’d know that’s not how it went down, and that they don’t qualify as woke even if they came out today exactly as they were then.

If you’d actually talk to Trump supporters, you’d know they never had a problem with prominent fictional characters, or people for that matter, that aren’t men or white.

Assuming "wemoid" is some sort of term for women, I've never had a problem with them simply being in movies, nor have I partaken in lying about what was or wasn't in the movie. If rumors were coming out about the movie beforehand, and users were simply talking about them on here, that's one thing.

That still doesn't prove that they have issues with women being main characters in general, just look at how well-received Wonder Woman and Alita: Battle Angel were, or the popularity of anime with female leads. Nor does that prove that it's only Trump supporters who have issues with the current entertainment culture, or that only Trump supporters have standards for writing.

If writers are gonna purposefully mis-treat male characters and show favor to obnoxious female characters, then fans will understandably criticize them. But if writers treat both male and female characters with respect, then fans won't care who the main character is. Same when it comes to race or sexuality.

Well, I can tell you what was happening when it was released. It was jumping on the Rambo bandwagon. "First Blood Part 2" had just come out and was crazy popular. "Aliens" was the same concept with tons of shooting and violence. It wasn't anywhere near as cerebral, or creepy, as "ALien".

The producers of Aliens surveyed test audiences at the time and the people with opinions about the female lead mostly said they would probably preferred it if Ripley was a guy. That's not to say that the most of the audience felt that way. Most were untroubled by Ripley's gender. But it just shows that if an opinion is going to be expressed, even though it's the minority opinion, it's from poopbutts triggered by a female actor doing things in a role they are used to seeing a male actor in.

Thanks to social media though we got those views being rammed down our throats, accompanied with the inevitable opposing views in response. 40 years ago you'd hear about some guy down the street who hates Ripley but you would just dismiss it in the face of the movie's obvious success and those opinions would never gain traction.

Now we've got the ridiculous situation of bros using Aliens as an example of how they used to create strong female characters properly blah blah fucking blah. Complete horseshit. All that's changed is that chickenshit sadsacks like the twerp down the street now have several platforms and echo chambers for their insecurities.
