Is Louden -- gasp -- gay? No joke.

This is not some homophobic bash on wrestling.

I love Visionquest but was watching it recently and noticed something I hadnt before. Early in the movie, Louden is working at the hotel and meets the guy with the wrestling shoes who tries to teach him Tai-Chi and grabs his stuff. Ok. Louden leaves and does push-ups. But later, Cooch picks Louden up outside the hotel as Louden is getting off work and Louden has those red wrestling shoes over his shoulder. He would not have simply gone out and bought them off camera and brought them to work. It suggests he eventually ..ahem.. earned them from that salesman.

Sure Louden isnt gay. He did score Fiorentino. But did anyone else notice that and what did they make of it? It seemed an odd little thing to throw in there.

reply

Maybe Louden just wanted those shoes REALLY bad! Ever hear of "gay for pay?"

"IMdB; where 14 year olds can act like jaded 40 year old critics...'

I will never forget the time my friend's uncle the chiropractor wanted to show me something. I immediately thought of the scene in "Vision Quest" with the t'ai chi guy. My friend's uncle did not grab my package. I didn't think he was going to because there were about a dozen people there.

The gayest thing about this movie is this thread...

reply

if I remember right the shoes were old worn and muddy

reply

Nope shoes were brand new. Theres no other scene where Louden has shoes around his neck when he's running and Kuch says nice shoes clearly he has never seen them before. Only possibilities are that grabby hotel guy gave them to Louden as an apology or Louden earned them for services rendered.

I've often thought the same thing, but truthfully -- based on my knowledge of production management -- it was probably just a case of "grab whatever nearby prop we can throw into this shot that's handy" moment. If you follow chats on these quirks, it is *amazing* how many things like this show up in most movies! It's kind of like a producer accidentally allowing a boom mike to be seen and never picking up on it. Or an actor holding a book that had never even been published at the time the movie supposedly is taking place. I've been through this many times, and it's super embarrassing....

Is this oldest thread on here?

reply

19 years are the oldest posts right now as IMDb message boards started 19 years ago in 2003.

That wouldn't surprise me. I was online in the mid 1980s. I had my commodore 64, a dial up modem, and Quantumlink (which became aol).

Jesus christ, I just said the exact fucking thing on another post and it finally dawned on me when another person pointed it out. My bad 🤣🤣🤣🤣

No worries

I think we all do this sometimes. Tony robbins calls them blind spots.

I call it brain fart 😂😂😂😂

This was the movie with the Madonna song and the dude sniffing the maid's panties, right?

reply

Yep

reply

And one of her best songs ever.

reply

Yeah, that's a really good song. I just wish that the writers had given it to someone else to sing. She was trash then and she's trash now.

reply

Nah lol. She did fantastic on this song. It showed that she really could sing. Not like a lot of the modern acts that have to use auto tune etc.

reply

I always thought she had the voice of a five-year-old girl, but to each their own.

reply

But her voice is quite deep in this one in a lot of parts. Now I had you said Britney Spears has the voice of a 5-year-old I would have completely agreed with you lol.

reply

We can probably agree that they are both completely insane.

reply

Indeed.

Have you seen this?

Yes I saw that when somebody here first posted it. This is what a cuckoo person believes to be comedy.
