This has got to be one of the worst films i have every seen. The acting is terrible.
Although the film is bad it is not the worst ever music biopic (50 Cent get rich or die trying).
The music is great although. Purple Rain is one of my favorite ever songs.
What about Swing Kids? Dancing as a way of fighting the Nazis? What makes it truly asinine is that it's based on a true story. On the up side though, it makes those French Resistance guys look like Green Berets.

Well.....I love the movie because of the music. The movie had bad acting but nobody can deny that the mystery that surrounding Prince was very genuine and is true to life. For that reason alone, I have a great deal of respect for the movie. It was wierd and the acting was also but I found it to be genuine. I felt like Prince wasn't "acting"....he probaby really its emotionally conflicted as he was in the movie.

Worst movie ever? I disagree! The acting isn't terrible. It's just that most of the people in the film had little or no acting expierience. The music is incredible!

ok so the acting isnt amazing... but so what ? i still watch it today and there is no better musical movie than this. full stop.

I will say that it Purple Rain had it's share of short comings but it's still a great piece of work. It's gritty and it captures hardships a live artist faced in the 80's. The story is original and most of the actors served their purpose. Morris Day was the perfect catalyst for Prince because their styles are so dissimilar. Besides this story was original and so far in this summer of sequels, alot of movies aint.
