This movie is a lot of fun

I saw this as a kid and before the internet, I swear we complained less about movies. This was a fun movie, albeit full of terrible writing. You just have to go with a lot of it.
- Richard Pryor as a 4 star general and hands a green rock to Superman as a gift? What the absolute fuck is that?
- Vera is somehow turned into a powerful android and later is just fine?
- The insaneness that was Superman flying like a damn Atari game and getting blasted at.
So overall, dumb as fuck, but a hell of a lot of fun.

It's a bit slow, that's my main criticism. I prefer the 4th to this one because it's simply not as boring.

We complained less about everything because there were fewer people to complain to before the era of the world wide web. But the fact that you were a kid had a lot to do with it too. Kids are not very critical.

I saw it in the cinema when it first came out and I enjoyed it. I'm not so keen on it now, although I do like the junkyard fight.

I didn't see this til I was 17. I thought it was awful. I watched the first one as a young kid but didn't see the second one til I was 12 or 13. I think I saw the 4th one as a young kid too. Frankly I did see the VHS Cover of this one as a kid and it turned me off. It was just Superman carrying around a random guy. I had no idea who Richard Pryor was as a kid. And frankly Richard Pryor is the main problem I have with this movie. He's not funny or amusing. He's just annoying.

And like Nostalgia Critic said in his top 11 dumbest Superman moments video, he gets more screentime than Superman. Superman and Clark Kent feel like supporting characters in this movie. I'll never get them putting a comedian into a Superman movie. It was a bad idea. I may be in the minority preferring the 4th film to this one and finding it more entertaining. The 4th is bad but in a more amusing way.

I hear ya. It isn’t a good movie for sure. Maybe I just like it for the sentimental part of watching it as a kid
