The murder of Manny..

Was this too abrupt and impulsive even for Tony?

You had to expect Tony to be pissed. The fact these two were carrying on behind his back in secrecy was no small thing. Manny had to expect the shit to hit the fan.

I think there were some good story opportunities missed here. Tony stews over time thinking he cannot trust Manny any longer. Manny grows to fear Tony and not trust him. Perhaps he eventually orders Manny's execution being careful so his sister does not suspect that he was behind it. Make it look like a rival gang hit.

I just think it is too over the top to have Tony just start shooting as soon as he realizes the 2 of them are together.

It was a bit sudden

Manny could have politely approached Tony at some point and said ''Jo Tony, joo know that thing I do with my tongue? Joo say I look like a lissard? It turns out your sister Cheena, she like it mang, after I pick up the next trunk full of yayo I'm going to visit Cheena mang, stop chooting at me mang!''

I read this in Manny's voice, spit out my coffee halfway through... tried reading it again, finished reading it (in Manny's voice) and spit my coffee out again laughing...

Well played.

it's entirely possible the sister thing was just the final straw.
The whole reason he was in that mess in New York was because of Manny introducing him to the "mob banker" who turned out to be an undercover.
Then, while Tony was in New York, and Manny was supposed to be running things in his forced absence, Manny goes AWOL.
If you are gonna marry the overprotective boss' sister in secret, maybe pick a better time to do it? just a thought.

Also it's a good job Tony never found out about Manny's negligence at the chainsaw scene or he may have got got a lot sooner.

Tony was high on cocaine, he was acting before thinking, the way the scene was shot was perfect.

Oh yeah, lets sit right down and have a serious talk about the motivations and intentions of a coked out 1980's Cuban drug dealer in Miami.
Hmmmmmm....
Nope. The all deserved to die.
The end.

C'mon dude, you gotta put spoiler alert in your heading. Unless a movie was made before 1950 that is

The scene rang true to me given Tony's declining state & judgement & feelings towards his sister. The stewing over it would have added too much to a film already almost 3 hours long.

Though I never understood why Manny & Gina would think the volatile Tony would be okay with a surprise announcement of their marriage. Seemed the writers forgone that to heighten the drama.
