Did anybody actually see this in a theater?

If so what did you think when you walked out? How many people were there in the theater?

I saw this at the Bannister 6 theater in late July of 1983. It was a week or two before I went to Air Force Basic Training(5 Aug, 1983). I drove my sisters Honda Civic, picked up my friend Wes and went to a daytime(probably a Saturday or Sunday) viewing and yes, the theater was mostly full. It's funny you ask what did I think when I walked out. I just remember the movie was awful and when it was over and the lights went up my friend Wes disgustedly tore up those cheap 3-D glasses in front of everybody. I laughed my ass off because normally we'd be stupid enough to think they were some sort of collection item.

Also, I remember a few weeks later when I was at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. It was one of those boring weekend days where our Training Instructors left us alone ALL WEEKEND and a lot of guys would just sit around the dorms. I normally would walk around the base and go to the shopette, bowling alley where we could eat something other than chow hall food. Anyway, back at the dorm a couple of black guys asked me what movie's I'd seen lately. I mentioned Jaws 3-D and Porky's 2 and they made me go through the whole plot of both movies. I remember they laughed their asses off when I told them how stupid the shark looked in the finale and they laughed even harder when I said how violently my friend Wes tore those 3-D glasses! Both those movies were crimes against humanity I'm glad I at least got a chance to make someone entertained by such horrible summer fare!

I was young when this came out, and 3-D was new to me. I was scared and didn't realise how atrocious the effects were. It was good for a preteen in the theatre. Unbearable to watch as an adult now.

I did.

I did. Thought it was boring with ridiculous 3D effects but still ended up being better than Revenge, which I also saw in a theater.

Yeah, it was hysterical. It was so phony one couldn't help but laugh.

This film should have been categorized as a comedy.

The theater was pretty crowded. We finished the movie because we were laughing so hard.

Especially towards the end, the shark breaking through the glass.

Even the rest of the theater starting cracking up on that one.

I saw this in of all places a YMCA. Back in the 80s for some reason, after a film had made its run through the theaters, the YMCA would get hold of them and have screenings on the weekend. Pretty sure it was free for at least the kids. There was like a hundred of us packed in the basement sitting on the floor watching this.

I'm fairly certain I saw this in 83 when I was 17, but if social media had existed back then to read the reviews, then no. I would've skipped it
