Best theme song.

Was it just me or did anyone else think this show had one of the best theme songs ever?

reply

I think it did have the best theme song ever. Notice how "Fahrenheit 9/11" and "The 40-year-old Virgin" used it. Even "South Park" used a derivation of it in the "Starvin Marvin in Space" episode when Marvin was flying around in that spaceship. I used to like "The Greatest American Hero" too when I was a kid.

If you don't like this song then you have no soul. Same on you. SHAME!

I have always loved this song but was surprised no one listed the Dukes of Hazzard theme...Just the good ol' boys :)

The song is great for karaoke, too. You know who the fans of the show are, because they always get a big smile when they hear the music start, and say how great it was to hear the song afterward (if you can do it anywhere near to right). :D

What's....this....ruckus?

I love this song and I'm glad that they were able to retain it for the dvd sets.I seriously don't think I would have bought them without the theme song.Of all of the tv dvd sets that I own,"TGAH" is one of just a few that I play the theme song on every episode.

This song was great! I always remembered how when I was younger a friend of the family would always sing this song for some reason because it was their favorite song to sing.

To the OP: I agree with you about the theme song for this show. Unfortunately, a recent poll at AOL.com http://insidetv.aol.com/2009/10/09/best-tv-theme-songs/ suggests that people have a lot of problems with the theme song.

I would definitely have voted for this song if I were allowed to but the results are already in as you can see.

What's funnier is, I did not even see this show until about 2 or 3 years ago for the very first time in my life.

This is a timeless and classic TV theme.Hell, the song is even more popular than the TV show.

reply

Good point.

reply

I agree - it is definitely timeless.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

I love the song, and I love the show as well.

reply

I loved this and thought it was one of the best - if not the best - I'm old enough to have been driving at the time the show was on and when it came on the radio I blared it!!

I never hear the song any more but at odd times it just pops into my head!

The funny thing is when I first heard the song on the radio and liked it, I didn't know it was a TV theme song. I was only 11 at the time and didn't pay much attention to all the TV shows.

reply

This is one of the best theme songs, but Moonlighting had the best theme song of the 80s.

reply

Totally.

Yes! I'd probably consider my favorite theme song! I love it!

I love so many other theme songs as well, but some of my other favorites behind GAH include...
Happy Days
WKRP in Cincinnati
Laverne and Shirley (hate the show, but I loved the opening theme)
Simon & Simon

reply

Yeah, I love the WKRP song. Laverne and Shirley was catchy and so was Happy Days (both theme songs). Today they don't even bother with instrumental theme songs!!!!!!
