What motivates Pam
She comes from money and status. She could easily have any guy she wanted. Why a cowboy with no not much going for him?

shareRich girls went "slumming" in speakeasies in the 1920's to meet rough and exciting boys. Pam was a 1980 Texas version of that.
shareExcellent point, Noir, bad boys (and, slumming) can be fun every once and awhile. But, even if Bud and Sissy had not reunited, I can't imagine Pam really wanting anything more than a bit of spice in her predictable life.
Men, such as Bud, make for a great fling, but never for a serious long-term relationship. Pam appeared to be not only wealthy, but very smart and independent. Bud's macho/sexist behavior would supersede his charm before too awfully long. Plus, she lacked Sissy's toughness to manage Bud's volatile personality.

She pretty much explains her motivation during the time it takes to get from her front door to the bedroom. It's all about daddy and her love of the simple man. It's very on-the-nose dialogue, but it's quite funny because Bud hardly talks during this speech, so you can imagine what he's thinking.
shareBud was, initially, just a piece of ass and likely one-night stand. Pam understood clearly that he was just using her to make his wife jealous and she was okay with that. Women can be lustful, too.
