Lost respect for Angie Dickinson and Michael Caine for doing this

Dressed to Kill is such a scuzzy movie, I can't believe she agreed to do this. I think she hoped it would retain her status as a sex symbol but she came across as trashy and desperate. My skin crawls watching her.

Michael Caine barely fares any better, and you could tell why he did it. IIRC, he was the choice to play the killer in Frenzy but turned it down, so I guess thought that starring in a Hitchcock ripoff would make up for it.

Ok, boomer.

She was kinda mumsy looking with old eyes and hands, but had a smoking hot body and loved getting ploughed.

She was an interesting character, sympathetic but also an adulterous slag, and quite funny how she was elegant yet desperate to get laid but kept bungling it - losing her glove, getting stalked by the guy who fucks her like a cheap whore, forgetting her ring, and discovering she’s likely contracted an STD. Seemed like a loving mother though so I felt bad for her kid.

Caine was awesome. Dude was in Jaws 4 so this is hardly him slumming it. I’m fact, I consider this a very decent thriller and a respectable De Palma entry from his Hitchcock era.

Edit: I’ve since learned that the ‘smoking hot’ body was that of some pornstar. That said, in wide shots Dickinson still seemed to have a good bod for a near 50 year old.

I'll sort of quote Michael Caines response when some interviewer gave him crap about "The Swarm"

" You see, That's what I do for a living, I act, see this house (Points behind him to a large house), The check I got for doing that movie built this house"

He has been in a lot of dogs, (I don't think this is one} BUT he has been the best part of any of them

I like this movie too, he's done some dogs i'd agree like
Zulu
Water
Blame it on Rio
Quicksand
On Deadly Ground
Jaws 4
Surrender
The Get Carter remake

reply

You don't like Zulu??

I'd agree on the rest.

reply

I found it boring.

reply

Okay.

It's a scuzzy movie but it's expertly filmed & directed.

Give me that style of film-making over all the boring, generic films of today.
