Has Stephen Collins' presence in this movie ruined your enjoyment?

After it was revealed that he was you know, a kid diddler? Especially since Decker has such a predominate role in The Motion Picture. He was essentially going to be along with Kirk, the new co-lead (since it wasn't believed that Leonard Nimoy was going to come back) for the aborted Phase II TV series.

There's a lot of things to consider when this kind of thing comes out after enjoying a past performance of someone in a favourite film.

In a nutshell, no, it doesn't ruin it for me in this case because it's an ensemble cast and I guess it's easy to not be so distracted by it. If the movie was more about him as a leading person then it might be more prevalent in my thoughts while watching him. It's certainly in the back of my mind when he's on screen and talking and such, and it has changed how I feel about him as a person.

I mean, I have always strongly disliked the Decker character ever since I first saw the movie lol. The fact that Riker from TNG is essentially an expy of Decker really speaks volumes when you realize how Riker is one of the most charismatic and likable characters of the franchise while Decker is just as much of a wet sandwhich as Wesley Crusher.

(It wasn't because of some bizarre 6th sense that detected something was off about Collins. I just never liked his acting/vibe to begin with. Him being a diddler gives me an even more significant reason to dislike the guy lol)

Well, it’s kind of hard to ignore when he seems SOOOOOOO into merging with V’Ger when it comes out that V’Ger, as Spock says, is a child…

Ouch! LOL

Not at all.

No, the movie itself ruined my enjoyment long before any allegations about the actor came out. Even then, I wouldn't let the actions of one person ruin the hard work of everyone else involved in the movie. I still like to watch The Naked Gun and very much enjoy Nordberg. Roseanne is still one of my favorite tv shows. etc etc
