Woman fawning over a strong independent man. Scantily clad eye candy for men. A lone man often being the hero. The writing is a product of its time, much different than what you see today.
I wonder what the reaction (if any) would be if it were put on TV today as is (plus updated special effects).
It only lasted two seasons so it wasn't very popular when it originally came out. So, I'd probably say that it wouldn't work these days either. Personally, I happen to love the series. On Saturday nights (after my niece and nephew go to bed) I watch it on Metv. The first season was great in a very fun, but awesomely cheesy way. Unfortunately, the second season kind of sucks, but it's still fun despite its suckiness. I hope that at some point "Battlestar Galactica" will come back to TV and so will the original "V"
I've read it was all Girard's fault. The first season's swashbuckling and spandex offended his Christian sensibilities, and so he bullied the studio into all of the ridiculous changes, the predictable result which is, of course, history.
